Today we’d like to introduce you to Cam Calloway.
Thanks for sharing your story with us Cam. So, let’s start at the beginning and we can move on from there.
Thanks for the opportunity. I’ll just sort of walk you through my musical journey these past few years. It started about 2014 when I picked up a guitar and was playing at weekly open mics around Vegas. At this time I had a day job working at the Rocky Mountain Chocolate Factory making things caramel and fudge from scratch along with a ton of candied apples. The summer of 2015 came and I decided quit my job to pursue music full-time. i’ve been able to make a living playing cover gigs at different casinos around Las Vegas & in between time I pursue a my original music & play shows at venues like The Bunkhouse, Velveteen and Brooklyn Bowl to name a few places. From that time up till now I’ve had opportunities to open for acts like Allen Stone, Emily King, the Internet and had a chance to play the life is beautiful music festival where I shared the bill with Chance the Rapper, Lorde. Muse, Gorillaz and many more!it’s been an awesome journey since and I don’t plan on stopping anytime soon ha ha
Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
There’s definitely been some ups and downs on this music journey ha ha I’d say the biggest struggle has been to stay emotionally afloat with music. not comparing myself to others and not allowing that to dictate my emotions or make me feel Inadequate has been a challenge for the most part. i’m at a place now where I’m comfortable and making music that’s honest and I’m excited to share it with people soon.
Please tell us more about your work, what you are currently focused on and most proud of.
I am a singer in Las Vegas pursuing original music. One of the things I’m proud of is that I’m able to bring people together and make their lives a little happier through my music. I’m focused on spreading my own music all around the world and being able to make a living doing just that! That’s where my vision is for myself.
What is “success” or “successful” for you?
My definition of success is being able to make a living doing something that you truly enjoy. It’s not necessarily the accolades or winning awards it’s more so connecting with human beings all across the world and being able to bring humanity a step closer together. To meet thats true success!
