Today we’d like to introduce you to Caleb Austin
Hi Caleb, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstory with our readers?
Growing up in Atlanta, Georgia, I was always that kid with an unshakable passion for cars. I spent countless hours tinkering, reading, and dreaming about one day becoming an engineer who worked on the very machines that fascinated me from a young age. My love for cars was more than a hobby—it was the spark that set the foundation for everything I’d pursue.
While in college, I was lucky to meet some incredible like-minded individuals who shared my love for cars and entrepreneurship. Among them was Juwan, my best friend and, more importantly, my brother in spirit. It was during one of our many conversations about cars that Juwan came up with a brilliant idea that would change the course of my life—a Turo business. His idea was simple: we would start renting out luxury cars to those looking for not just transportation, but an experience.
The planning began. I buried myself in research, studying everything from market trends to customer preferences, trying to craft a vision that was about more than just renting cars—it was about delivering a lifestyle. I knew what I wanted this business to look like, but life had other plans. After graduating college, I was offered an engineering job in California. While exciting, it also derailed my business dreams temporarily. The move to California meant adjusting to a new environment, making connections, and figuring out how my dream would fit in this new place.
Then, something wonderful happened. In the midst of navigating my new life in California, I met a magnificent woman who would become my wife. Suddenly, I wasn’t just building a business—I was building a family. With her unwavering support, I was able to return to the drawing board. A year later, I officially started my LLC.
What started as just an idea between friends became something far greater. With one car, we took the leap. Then it became two. Then five. Then partnerships and joint ventures followed. With the help of my wife and the vision Juwan and I created, the business grew to over 15 cars, with even more affiliate connections, allowing us to expand our reach.
Today, I’m proud to say that You Chose Luxury isn’t just a car rental company—it’s a lifestyle experience. Together, my wife and I have built something meaningful that embodies exclusivity, prestige, and the thrill of luxury, making dreams come true for others just like ours did.
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
The short answer—absolutely not. Becoming a business owner, especially in the luxury car rental space, is anything but smooth. There are so many variables you don’t account for in the beginning—things like funding, regulations, and, of course, navigating people’s expectations.
One of the biggest challenges for me has been finding my customers and truly understanding how to please them. When you’re in an industry where there’s strong competition, it’s tough to make your name stand out, especially when there are bigger players in the market who have been around for a long time. But I’ve come to realize that building a brand is a marathon, not a sprint. It’s about being patient and consistent, even when things don’t go according to plan.
Early on, I faced hurdles with acquiring funding, getting the right connections, and figuring out the most effective marketing strategies. Every step forward came with its own set of lessons. I had to accept that nothing worth having comes easy. You have to be adaptable, open to learning, and willing to pivot when necessary.
What kept me going was the knowledge that every setback was an opportunity to learn, grow, and refine my approach. It hasn’t been easy, but the rewards of seeing You Chose Luxury come to life—of seeing the brand evolve and earn the trust of our clients—has made every bump in the road worthwhile.
Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know?

Can you tell us more about what you were like growing up?
Growing up, I was always a curious and driven kid, eager to learn and grow. I wasn’t the type to ignore advice or resist guidance—in fact, I took every bit of wisdom given to me and ran with it. My father, a deeply Christian man, made sure I lived a life that was not just pleasing to him, but also to God. His influence taught me the importance of putting God first, and that faith played a huge part in sparking my creative ideas and inventions.
The most important lesson I learned early on was, “A man that doesn’t work, doesn’t eat.” This idea shaped my mindset and work ethic. From a young age, I made sure I stayed busy, always hustling and finding ways to make money. One of my first “business ventures” was selling dummy phones from my dad’s T-Mobile stash. I took those fake phones to school and sold them to my classmates. My mom used to laugh because kids would come by the house looking to buy phones from me!
Before I was old enough to get a real job, I kept busy with anything I could get my hands on to earn some cash. Whether it was mowing lawns in the neighborhood, selling snacks after church, painting houses with my dad’s friend, or even selling hair weaves to women—I did it all. Growing up, I was always a go-getter, constantly motivated to find new ways to make my dreams a reality. That same hustle and drive I had as a kid still fuels my business today.
