Meet Burbank Fitness Trainer: Corey Enman

Today we’d like to introduce you to Corey Enman.  Below you’ll find edited excerpts of our interview with Corey.

Corey, please share your story with us.  How did you get to where you are today?

I was born and raised in New Hampshire and have been involved in fitness and athletics my entire life. While growing up I competed and still compete today in numerous endurance races including 5Ks, 10ks, half marathons, marathons and triathlons. I was a sponsored triathlete and qualified for the Triathlon Age Group National Championships in 2012 and 2013. After completing the Oceanside Half-Ironman last year, I decided to spend more time working on my business and with my family, so I gave up triathlons temporarily. I also had a very active youth, high school, and college athletic career, including All State honors in football and varsity letters in six different sports. I had a successful college football career where I helped my teams win three different championships, including an undefeated season and was an All-Conference wide receiver my senior year.

However, the academic reputation of my college at the time wasn’t that spectacular and I wanted my degree from a more prestigious school. At the same time, my older brother had moved out to California, established himself, and basically paved the way for me to join him, so I decided that I would move and finish college in California. My passion for sports and coaching motivated me to get into personal training in 2004 and I haven’t looked back since. After working at big box gyms for five years and witnessing how little they actually cared about the success of their clients and their employees, I decided to start my own fitness company Fitamorphosis in 2009.

For five years I worked my tail off running bootcamps in the park, parking garages and in two different locations. Even though I was really good at getting clients results, I was terrible at marketing. However, in 2013 I attended my first Business Fitness Summit and met my current mentor and owner of the Fit Body Bootcamp franchise, Bedros Keuilian. I took a huge financial risk, joined his high level coaching program, and from that point, my business took off. A year later in 2014, I decided to join Fit Body Bootcamp and their Unstoppable Fitness Formula. After seeing how incredible the company was, how amazing their support is, how effective their workouts are at getting amazing results, how powerful their vision was and how dedicated the company is to their clients, I gave up Fitamorphosis and completely transformed it into Fit Body Boot Camp Burbank. For the last two years we have helped thousands of our clients achieve unbelievable results and continue to grow and help the people of the San Fernando Valley become more fit. Our 6 Week Challenges have become the driving force behind our bootcamp and the community that we have developed with our clients is second to none.

But what really sets us apart is our expertise on nutrition, our insane accountability, and the relationships we have established with other health and fitness companies in our area to give our client’s the most comprehensive fitness program around. We track all of our client’s food, their weight and their results on a daily and monthly basis. We use hydrostatic body fat testing, the Sports Performance Lab of California and two of the best massage therapists and chiropractors in Burbank to maximize their results. But most importantly of all, we know every person’s name that walks into our bootcamp and we truly are a family.

Has it been a smooth road?

No way! For years I was running my bootcamp at four different parks and struggling financially to make ends meet. When it got later in the year and there wasn’t sunlight in the morning, we would move our bootcamp to the bottom floor of the mall parking lot, or the bottom floor of the local high school parking lot because it was warmer and had light. We very rarely had bathrooms because they weren’t open that early and I lugged all of my bootcamp equipment around in the back of my small Nissan Sentra. I was running bootcamps from 6am-9pm outside, year round, in a bunch of different parks illegally, in two different cities. In December of 2012, just before I attended the Fitness Business Summit, I had overdrawn my bank account so many times I had lost count. When I arrived at the Summit in 2013, I had a little over $500 in my bank account total. It was at that time I knew I needed to make a huge change, and that’s when I took the huge risk to get into the coaching program. The way I was able to afford that is another story in itself!

What are your plans for the future?

We are currently about to open location #2 in Sunland-Tujunga and my goal is to open 10 locations in the San Fernando Valley in the next 5 years and to help over 20,000 people become fit before 2020.  I would also like to get into real estate and really create some generational wealth for my family.  I also want to be even more philanthropic.

Let’s dig a little deeper into your story.  What was the hardest time you’ve had?

I could talk about this all day.  I think it would be better if you just called and we went over it.  It would take me too long to write, but yes, I remember the hardest time like it as yesterday and the time when I started to realize I was going to make it.
