Today we’d like to introduce you to Bryan Ricci.
Thanks for sharing your story with us Bryan. So, let’s start at the beginning and we can move on from there.
I grew up in rural Upstate New York and have always painted. I attended art school in New York and moved to LA after a visit in 2000. In 2010 received my MFA at Otis College of Art and Design. I’ve been working professionally and teaching art since.
Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
The art world is unpredictable and challenging sometimes. I love making paintings so I try to stay focused on the work.
Alright – so let’s talk business. Tell us about Bryan Ricci – what should we know?
I’m a fine artist. I make abstract paintings using pure pigment and mixed media on linen. The materials I use are the driving force of the paintings, I strive to create new possibilities in how paint is applied. What makes me proud is when I make work that I feel is sincerely mine own. My work isn’t image based.
Any shoutouts? Who else deserves credit in this story – who has played a meaningful role?
My Family deserves most of the credit, they are supportive and patient with me. They allow me to pursue work that I love, but are also real with me and can be critical which is very important to me. I have a few dealers that have helped my career, locally John Wolf Fine Art has done well for me and TW Fine Art has been great to work with. I have a few artists’ friends that are supportive and have helped with finding the right context for my work. I’m thankful for my circle of friends and family.
