Today we’d like to introduce you to Bruce Gore.
Bruce, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
I grew up in Grand Coulee, Washington, and attended Whitworth University in Spokane, graduating in 1972. After teaching at a small Bible school in Spokane, I resigned based on theological differences, and sometime later, attended law school, practicing law in Spokane for about 20 years. The last few years of my career were spent teaching in a classical Christian school here in Spokane called the Oaks. I also served on the adjunct faculty of Whitworth University for 30 years, teaching Bible history, ethics, and related courses. Since I’ve retired, I’ve maintained an online teaching ministry with approximately 50,000 subscribers.
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
When I resigned from the Bible school that I mentioned, it was because I had come to the point that I no longer accepted the theological system known as dispensationalism. Since that time, I have been a Presbyterian and part of my work has been offering a critique of dispensational thought and arguing for classical reformed theology in connection with eschatology and other matters.
Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
I have over the years, viewed myself principally as an educator. My interests involved theology, Bible, philosophy, history, and related matters. I have published one book which treats the historical context of the Bible. In the year 2010, I began uploading audio and video files to YouTube, and have been astonished at the reception this material has received and the number of subscribers and views from around the world who have taken an interest in this material.
If we knew you growing up, how would we have described you?
I grew up in a rural community in Washington State and had many good friends, some of whom I remain in contact with to this day. I grew up in an intact home with a father and a mother who loved me and deeply grateful for the warm and secure environment that they provided.
