Meet Brooke Papp of ineedmylipstick Digital Media Consulting in Inglewood

Today we’d like to introduce you to Brooke Papp.

Brooke, let’s start with your story. We’d love to hear how you got started and how the journey has been so far.
I have been working since I was 14 years old – I define my individual success by my work ethic and it’s corresponding results. I love to see hard work pay off, I love to earn my own income and I love to help people. I love to be praised by my growing customer base for the array of services I provide them.

Three and a half years ago, I started my own business. I came from a corporate sales job and I was burnt out, tired and my husband and I were in the throws of infertility struggles.

After what seemed like months, I finally pulled the plug, took on my first client and felt comfortable to quit my 9-5 to pursue my lifelong dream of being my ‘own boss’.

Here we are three and a half years later. I have nine clients. All of which continually push me further outside of my comfort zone. This has enabled me to expand my professional skillset and as an added bonus, has perfectly complimented my personal life as a mother, a wife, and home chef.

We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
Being an entrepreneur is never a smooth road. Financially there have been struggles – I have lost clients, I have underquoted work hours, I have not had invoices paid on time. Working for yourself means you work for yourself. There is never a point where you aren’t thinking about your business or growth or the road ahead and this has been my biggest struggle. I long to ‘check out’ but in the end, I thrive to build myself.

I take on too much at times because I have a hard time saying no. I lose sleep, my anxiety has grown. We are living through a pandemic, when I thought surely, every single one of my clients would run for the hills and pull their digital media in house.

But overall, the gain of my own business has been a blessing and I get to be there every morning when my daughter wakes and get to see her go down every night. She wouldn’t be here if I wouldn’t have taken that leap!

So let’s switch gears a bit and go into the ineedmylipstick Digital Media Consulting story. Tell us more about the business.
ineedmylipstick is built on the concept that the finishing touch is ‘lipstick’ – we all need something to complete us – in digital form. Whether that is writing a blog, designing a campaign or styling a photoshoot, there is always that last little bit.

That is where I come in. I take a persona and add it to any sort of digital media. I ghostwrite: I design, I create…I am the finishing touch.

I am known for taking the voice of each of my clients and forming their digital assets to their brand. I am proud of my ability to shift from client to client and maintain integrity for each.

Has luck played a meaningful role in your life and business?
I am not sure I believe in luck.

I have always been a hard worker – I thrive in challenging work environments.

I have made myself by staying true to what I believe in, what I live for an who I am. I am kind, I am a giver and I am a doer. My favorite word is ‘Yes’ and by saying that, I have opened many doors throughout my career.

So luck, it’s out there – by getting a good parking spot or a great table at your favorite restaurant. But a prudent work ethic has always been the key determinant for success for me and ineedmylipstick.
