Today we’d like to introduce you to Brittany Williams.
Hi Brittany, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
Hi! I’m a wife and fur mom! I’m also a writer, podcast host, mental health and infertility advocate, and a journal creator. I’ve been on this journey for quite some time. My journey initially started out of grief. After losing my father, I just needed to get some things out. Although many people have lost their parents, I still felt alone and like no one understood what I was going through. These emotions birthed my blog and content creator journey.
Oftentimes, there is shame and judgment around things that many people experience. My goal is to still bring those hard conversations to the forefront. I continue to highlight mental health and infertility because I am personally affected by both. I have also embraced my gift of transparency and helping people feel seen. I also have a podcast and created a journal line!
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way? Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
It definitely hasn’t been a smooth road for many reasons. For one, I had to carve out my own path and had no clue what I was doing. I didn’t know how to make a website, know about algorithms, or how to really promote myself. Consistency is also a struggle, especially when life is happening and there’s no motivation.
Sometimes I just don’t have that encouragement to give. But the pressure is always there to post. However, I have learned that my sanity far outweighs posting on social media.
Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
WritefullySoBrittany is a blog that focuses on mental health, infertility, and anything related to life’s challenges. The Brownskin Blueprint is a podcast that I cohost with a close friend, Shawana Ward.
We also cover those difficult topics and invite guests on the show to share their expertise on topics. I have a Master’s in Social Work and a Bachelor’s in Psychology and Mass Comm/Journalism. Anything that I write/interview on, I have experienced professionally, personally, or know that there’s a need for information on it.
Can you tell us more about what you were like growing up?
Growing up I was inquisitive, intuitive, energetic, and ambitious.
I was always asking questions and reflecting on things I experienced or noticed. I also enjoyed cheerleading and dancing. Even as a child, I was always thinking about the future and what I wanted my life to be like. I started writing poetry around 8 years old, so even then writing held a special place in my heart.
