Meet Brittany Hohl and Brittany Savastano of Beach House in Marina Del Rey

Today we’d like to introduce you to Brittany Hohl and Brittany Savastano.

We started our working relationship together at a small beauty boutique agency outside of NYC. We were both in junior level roles and truly built our careers together as a team. This is where we really fostered our love for not only the beauty industry but the communications field as well. We worked hard to build strong relationships with the beauty community and our passion continued to grow. Brittany Hohl moved to Los Angeles to build the agencies West Coast office and eventually left to become Vice President of Beach House. Brittany Hohl quickly brought Brittany Savastano over to the Beach House team, as Director, and the head of the teams East Coast office. After four years of running the agency alongside the current CEO, both Brittany’s were presented with the opportunity to buy the agency. With a deep-rooted passion for this industry and agency, the girls knew this was the next chapter in their journey together.

Has it been a smooth road?
Within three months of owning Beach House, the world was hit with a global pandemic that shook the economy in every single way. We had to make difficult decisions and work hard to maintain the foundation of Beach House while on unsteady ground. We ebbed and flowed where we needed, continued to learn and shift when possible, and nurtured our clients, team, and editorial relationships. As a communications agency, it’s really our job to adapt to changes and help our clients navigate any and all challenges. We spent a lot of time social listening, educating ourselves, and leaning in to approach this new normal in a unique way for each of our client’s specific challenges. We are confident that this is just a tiny bump in the road of a long career of sharing our passion and expertise with the beauty community.

So let’s switch gears a bit and go into the Beach House story. Tell us more about the business.
Beach House is an idea-driven, women-owned, strategic beauty communications agency specializing in building beauty brands by combining the eclectic creativity of a boutique firm and strategic abilities of a large corporation. The agency has been working with remarkable beauty brands for over 14 years and through a deep passion and understanding of the beauty space, we have helped brands, both big and small, tell their story through strategic, thoughtful storytelling. In 2020, the founder of the agency decided to sell her business to Brittany Hohl, Vice President, and Brittany Savastano, Account Director, as she focused her efforts on other endeavors. We have been instrumental in building the Beach House brand to what it is today and will continue to develop a creative powerhouse.

Beach House is a laboratory for ideas that tell a beautiful story; we will continue to think forward to create from the big picture rather than toward it; we lead with our minds and our hearts; we recognize that leadership roles and entry-level roles are equally important in contribution and must rely on each other for balance; we provide a sense of purpose for our agency and our clients; we create a legacy of inspiring work grounded in creativity, execution, and perseverance.

How do you think the industry will change over the next decade?
With the current landscape, we feel there have been and will continue to be big changes within the beauty space. We see digital taking a much bigger role as businesses learn that many things can be done virtually. However, with the lack of personal connection, in-person interaction will be more valued because it will be less of the norm. Also, brands are going to start really paying attention to who and how they are speaking and this will build a more inclusive space for everyone to feel welcomed in. Although change is scary, we think the changes that are coming to the beauty industry are much, much needed.
