Meet Brittany Cox

Today we’d like to introduce you to Brittany Cox.

Brittany, let’s start with your story. We’d love to hear how you got started and how the journey has been so far.
If you asked anyone I grew up with, they would NEVER have guessed I’d become an actor. Thru high school and college, I did everything from interning at the NC Supreme Court, stage managing a regional theater company, teaching scenic painting to college students, and the list goes on. When I graduated from college, I knew that managing a company or working in an office (be it theater or otherwise), wasn’t for me. I had taken some acting classes and loved them, so decided I would try performing for a while.

My (now) husband and I made a huge change: we packed up our car with everything we owned an moved across country to Seattle. I started performing in local theater companies, then some smaller films and commercials. My husband worked at a post-production studio called Bad Animals and one day they needed a 20 something yr old female to do a short voice over for a commercial. I happened to be there at the time dropping off lunch and got thrown into the booth! I’ll never forget their feedback, “wow, you’re ok at this.” I was hooked.

Seven years later, with a lot of learning in between, I’m doing voice over full time in LA for commercials, video games, and animation.

We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
Making the transition from production to acting was a huge challenge. The first play I was ever cast in as a lead, the director pulled me aside opening night during intermission and told me I was the worst actor he had ever seen and he would cancel this show because of me. He was not the last to say I couldn’t be an actor. I’ve worked multiple jobs while finding time to audition and take classes. I’ve lived in horrible apartments. I auditioned for years without booking a single job. I’ve taken classes from scammy people.

Looking back, I’m thankful for all those experiences. It pushed me to work harder, to constantly learn about my craft, and to know my worth.

We’d love to hear more about your work and what you are currently focused on. What else should we know?
I’m an actor and, occasionally, film producer.

The projects I’m most known for include being the voice of Nancy Drew in “Nancy Drew: Midnight in Salem” and Ingrid in Nintendo’s “Fire Emblem: Three Houses”. I’ve done commercials (on and off camera) for companies like Amazon, Microsoft, Seattle Seahawks, TMobile, and CapitalOne.

Another thing I love doing is producing voice over demos for actors with my husband, Ryan. Our demo production company is called Next Level Voice Demos. It’s been amazing to work with new and established talent to create a product that will help their own voice business grow.

So, what’s next? Any big plans?
2020 is going to be a big year for me. I’m working on some exciting projects (to be announced) and am expanding my demo production business to take on more clients. I’m also hoping to travel to more conventions.

One day, I hope to be able to move into a house by the beach and have a fully decked out home studio.
