Today we’d like to introduce you to Brittany Chandler.
So, before we jump into specific questions about the business, why don’t you give us some details about you and your story.
I’m originally from Memphis, Tennessee- southern girl at heart. I created my company 9 years ago there and it grew tremendously the more I was traveling to Las Vegas and Los Angeles. So finally I moved to Los Angeles and now we are an international entertainment company performing for corporate events, private events, film, TV, and a lot more. I’m the brains behind my company, I do all of our marketing, production, choreography, costume design, bookings, planning, and I even perform in most of our events! I love to custom create shows for clients and events – that is my true passion. Last year, we added a special effects departments and are now a fully licensed fireworks company, so the possibilities are endless in creating spectacular performances for our clients. If you want a belly dancer to appear from a genie lamp, we can make it happen. If you want a fire show with performers using pyrotechnics and dancing with fireworks, we can make it happen. I’m all about doing something new, innovative, and of course leaving a lifetime memory of a “wow” show on the audience we perform for.
Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
The road has not always been smooth. There are always the tough clients that want to know every detail along the way and are unsure, but in the end they always are so excited at how well things go – with planning events and production there’s always hesitation especially when a lot of our concepts and ideas are new. In the end, it always turns out more amazing than we hope for. When dealing with fire, since fire dancing is our specialty, safety is always priority. Ensuring a safe show from all angles can be stressful at times. A lot of my clients are last minute – but I have learned to adapt. Clients may call me the day before an event and want us to do something huge – and I make it happen, I have a problem with saying no. lol 🙂 Last minute fire permits and rehearsals can be stressful but I wouldn’t change it for the world – in the end – seeing the faces of the audience is much more full filling than missing one night of 8 hour sleep.
Please tell us about The Dancing Fire Entertainment.
The Dancing Fire has grown from a fire dancing and belly dancing company to a multi-faceted entertainment company. We are a team, not an agency, so we are a close family of performers that work frequently together. We perform fire dancing, glow and led shows, belly dancing, hula and Tahitian dancing (one of our most popular coupled with fire), circus acts such as aerialists, contortionists, acrobats, stilt walkers, samba dancing, Latin dance, pyrotechnics, special effects, and fireworks. What sets my company apart from others is the fact I’m the creator and lead performer & involved in every step of the way for an event. I have a team that helps me of course, but everything is filtered through me so you get a more personal experience when you work with us. I also custom every show that we do – if you want a certain costume but we don’t have it, we make it! We also have an amazing special effects team (that just so happens to be my boyfriend) that also does FX for film & TV. Everything you book with us is in-house so it also keeps costs down for our client. Not to mention, I typically perform for all of our events, so you get the head of the company on-site more. We love what we do – and it shows!
If you had to go back in time and start over, would you have done anything differently?
If I had to start over, I would have saved a bit more money before moving to LA. It was tough the first year, but I spent almost every waking minute building my company and updating my website to create what it’s become today.
