Meet Brittany Alphonso

Today, we’d like to introduce you to Brittany Alphonso. Brittany was introduced to us by the brilliant and talented Courtney Barriger.

Hi Brittany, we’re so thrilled to have you sharing your story with us today. Maybe we can kick things off by having you introduce yourself to our readers? We’d love to have you go into your story and how you got to where you are today.
Hi I’m Brittany Alphonso a former designer of children’s clothing, Banana Bread Baby circa 2008-2018 , Producer and Founder of St. Augustine Fashion Week established 2015 and advocate for our environment and sustainable living.

I’m a mother to 4 which I homeschool and live on a self-sustaining mini organic farm on St. Augustine Beach Florida. I keep bees and chickens and revel in the inspiration our environment provides. I have always found inspiration for my designs in nature and it only makes since that I’ve surrounded my self in the everyday beauty urban farming can provide.

Please tell us more about your brand, St. Augustine Fashion Week
St. Augustine Fashion Week established Spring 2016 STAFW has created a platform for small brand designers to showcase their latest collections for an unparalleled level of brand exposure. STAFW provides extensive marketing opportunities that help local businesses grow, expand, and get noticed. Quickly becoming a hub for the latest small brand designer fashions, STAFW is also progressively raising awareness and funds for local charities and nonprofit organizations. Each season’s STAFW benefits a local nonprofit organization selected by our Board. St. Augustine Fashion Week has established itself as the area’s largest fashion event. STAFW attracts hundreds of people into the city, introducing designers, increasing awareness, and building confidence in the local fashion industry while working to boost the local economy and give local businesses more exposure.

So, as we mentioned to our audience earlier, you were introduced to us by Courtney Barriger and Holding Court and we really admire them and what they’ve built. For folks who might not be as familiar, can you tell them a bit about your experience with Holding Court .
I have worked with many designers and creatives over the years and Courtney Barriger sits proudly at the top of my favorite small brand designers list. I love that Courtney has been a constant humble energy and that transcends to her runway production with effortless style, fabulous textile movement and unique finish. She has vision and executes it brilliantly leaving a permanent impression. Fashion is Art and Courtney is a true artist.

Courtney embraces the challenge of exposing the many layers of fast fashion manufacturer’s environmental and ethical impact. I find it inspiring how she doesn’t bash the industry but provides and encourages actual action for consumers and designers to make a difference for a better Earth and improved industry.
