Meet Brian Bianchetti of People’s Choice Beef Jerky

Today we’d like to introduce you to Brian Bianchetti.

So, before we jump into specific questions about the business, why don’t you give us some details about you and your story.
Our rich history and tradition is one of our most defining characteristics. People’s Choice Beef Jerky has over 88 years and four generations of experience handcrafting premium meat products in the heart of Downtown LA.

The company was founded in 1929 by my great grandfather, John Bianchetti. He started with nothing more than a few dollars and an indomitable will to succeed. His vision was to build a neighborhood meat shop that sold high quality products with honesty and hard work. He proved the validity of that vision in 1939 when he moved his growing business into our current location at 1132 East Pico Boulevard and changed the name to Peoples Sausage Company, solidifying our legacy in the specialty meat space.

Under the stewardship of my grandfather, Paul Bianchetti, the business expanded this expertise in meat production to the restaurant trade with a focus on wholesale supply and distribution.

It wasn’t until my Dad, Mark Bianchetti, took over the business in the early 1980s that the company focused on beef jerky, which has become our speciality and focus.

We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
As you can probably imagine, a lot has changed over the course of 88 years. Despite the passing of time and generations, we have maintained our commitment to the founding principles of my great grandfather.

Over the years, we have been able to reinvent our products and services based on changing market trends while still retaining our core identity. Our current line of natural-style beef jerky products is testament to this fact. Drawing inspiration from my great grandfather’s recipes and simple techniques, our beef jerky products are a direct representation of what makes us great — handmade, quality meats made for modern times.

So, as you know, we’re impressed with People’s Choice Beef Jerky – tell our readers more, for example what you’re most proud of as a company and what sets you apart from others.
Our mission at People’s Choice Beef Jerky is to deliver a top quality beef jerky that upholds our rich tradition. As a family business with over 87 years and four generations in the meat industry, our tradition defines who we are. Simplicity, honesty and quality are the pillars of that tradition and we strive to bring them to life in everything we do, from our product to our packaging. No shortcuts, tricks, or compromises, we craft a handmade, tried & true beef jerky that my great grandfather would be proud to call his own.

We take great pride in our process. It is testament to our tradition. We have purposely retained the handmade element in each step of our process. It is our way of preserving tradition, remembering our history, and ensuring the highest quality product. Simply put, things are done better by hand.

So, what’s next? Any big plans?
No big changes at the moment. We are dedicated to keeping things simple and focusing on what we do best.

One of the more delicious parts of our job is the recipe testing that goes on in the People’s Choice Tasting Kitchen. We are always searching for new flavors from around the world and we want to bring those special flavors directly to our customers. So every few months, we offer one of our limited-edition, small batch flavors. Our goal is to deliver a sophisticated snacking experience that celebrates new ingredients while remaining true to our handmade tradition.
