Meet Brent Bushnell of Two Bit Circus

Today we’d like to introduce you to Brent Bushnell.

Brent, let’s start with your story. We’d love to hear how you got started and how the journey has been so far.
Two Bit Circus started when a couple of bored engineers started experimenting with interactive art to get people playing together. We brought our installations to parties then corporate events, our own huge traveling carnival and finally decided to open own permanent park! We call it a micro-amusement park.

Technology has us fixated on a bunch of tiny screens. We aim to bring people physically together to play elbow-to-elbow. We also package up our creative process as a program to show kids that technology and traditionally “nerdy” things, like STEM/STEAM, are actually insanely fun.

We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc. – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
We wanted a circus, and we got one! The ups and downs are what make this company special. Like many companies, we’ve faced challenges while finding the right partners, securing permits, raising capital, etc. But we’ve kept our heads down and continued working.

Some of our best creativity had come when our backs were against the wall like the time we got the attention of the CEO of Intel by mailing him a hacked chip as a videogram.

Every step along the way has taught us something. We’re super fortunate to have some amazing partners supporting our next phase.

So, as you know, we’re impressed with Two Bit Circus – tell our readers more, for example, what you’re most proud of as a company and what sets you apart from others.
Two Bit Circus is an experiential entertainment company. Based in Los Angeles, our interdisciplinary team of artists, engineers, and entrepreneurs develop spectacular entertainment experiences with the goal to inspire, engage, and reinvent the way people play.

And we recently built the world’s first Micro-Amusement Park™! Unlike a lot of traditional location-based entertainment, our parks are designed to encourage elbow-to-elbow play amongst everyone — friends and strangers included.

We took everything we love about old school carnival games, circus performance, vintage video games, and arcades, and smashed them together with cutting-edge technology to create a brand new kind of social playspace — a 35,000 square-foot park, full of unique experiences that get people together and having fun.
