Meet Brennan Mejia

Today we’d like to introduce you to Brennan Mejia.

Thanks for sharing your story with us Brennan. So, let’s start at the beginning and we can move on from there.
My love for performing started when I was in elementary school. I joined a youth circus program alongside my father and sister. We would train for about nine months and then put on nine shows spread out over three weekends in May.

I ended up being scouted by a manager when I was 15 and tested out of high school to begin auditioning for acting gigs. I was fortunate enough to book my first theatrical audition for a small bit on CSI Miami, and shortly after booked a part on the pilot episode of iCarly. Acting can be very feast or famine, so I think success really comes down to persistence. Persistency will get you there, but consistency will keep you there. I worked professionally on and off as an acrobat, while also getting certifications in personal training, sports nutrition, and vinyasa yoga. After working on several shows as a guest star or on pilots that ultimately didn’t get picked up, I got a break in the form of Power Rangers Dino Charge. I was actually about to quit acting, as I had just registered at college, but a friend told me to audition for Rangers, and that he told casting about me. So I went for it, and a few months later I was on my way to New Zealand to film! I did end up going back to school and now hold a B.S. in Kinesiology. I started working in stunts to stay connected in the industry and to put my acrobatic skills to use. Whether I am hired as an actor, acrobat, or stuntman, I just love performing and inspiring people. I am a currently working on prerequisites for nursing, since it allows for a lot of flexibility and versatility as well, and I can work shifts between acting jobs in the future.

Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
Not at all! There has been so many times where I almost quit due to not booking jobs, not feeling talented enough, etc. But I always felt every time I was about to quit, some small breakthrough would happen. I mean, like, every time. Whether it was a small modeling gig, or a commercial, or a big callback, it was almost like clockwork. Or that God just wanted me to get to my edge to remind me He still has a plan. So I am still focused on my career, but I am also working on other avenues to make ends meet until my big break.

We’d love to hear more about your work and what you are currently focused on. What else should we know?
I am an actor, but also a professional acrobat. Most people know me by my role as the Red Ranger in Power Rangers Dino Charge. Either that or for loving to do handstands! I fail a lot at things, but if I had any superpower, it would be the will to never give up. You only lose if you quit after all.

Any shoutouts? Who else deserves credit in this story – who has played a meaningful role?
My family has supported me from the start in my acting career. My dad used to drive me over 90 minutes to auditions, and wait for me as I took weekly acting classes for three plus hours in the evenings. My mom supported me financially in the beginning as well, and would always be there to help me run lines over the phone while I drove to my auditions too. And she still does! My wife supports me emotionally, and to be honest, financially at times, when I don’t land a gig for a while. But they all believe in me, and I want to pay them back for all of their kindness and patience!
