Today we’d like to introduce you to Brenda Montano.
Hi Brenda, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstory.
Sinceramente Única began after my sister and I stepped away from a small business we shared selling clothing. I’ve always carried a real passion for succeeding and breaking generational cycles, and I knew I wanted to build something that was my own. Funny enough, it all started with candles — because at the time, my daughter was struggling with terrible asthma attacks. I was burning candles every day without realizing how much the synthetic fragrances and toxins were affecting her breathing. Once it clicked, I went down a rabbit hole of research and started making my own non-toxic coconut–soy candles just to keep our home safer and cleaner for her.
From there, it turned into something bigger. I wanted my brand to feel unique and stay connected to my Latina roots, so I poured my candles into traditional cazuelas de barro. I sold candles for about three years and even had the opportunity to work two events in collaboration with Becky G, which was such an incredible experience.
Even though things were going well, I still felt like something was missing. When I had a baby in 2024, we took a break — and when I came back, I followed my gut and transitioned into jewelry. Now I sell 14k gold-filled and stainless steel pieces that make women feel beautiful and confident.
The transition hasn’t been easy — the jewelry world is crowded and competitive — but I’m hopeful. What truly sets me apart isn’t the jewelry itself; it’s the experience people get when they shop with me. For me, this goes way beyond sales. It’s about building relationships, creating a community of women who uplift each other, and celebrating the moments that remind us of our worth.
And honestly, I just want every Latina woman who reads this to know that it’s okay to start over. Start over as many times as you need to until you feel fulfilled. It’s scary and it’s hard — but it’s even scarier to stay in the same place and look back years later wondering, “what if?”
I’m so grateful for the clients who stayed loyal through the transition and equally thankful for the new faces who discovered me and trust me enough to support my small business. At the end of the day, Sinceramente Única is about authenticity, connection, and helping women feel uniquely themselves.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
It definitely hasn’t been a smooth road. Transitioning from candles to jewelry was a huge shift, and honestly, I had to rebuild everything from the ground up. The jewelry market is incredibly saturated, so standing out as a small business has been challenging from day one — and truthfully, I still struggle today with getting my business seen. On top of that, becoming a mom again in 2024 meant balancing my business with a newborn, healing, and figuring out a new routine. There were moments when sales were slow, moments where I doubted myself, and plenty of times where I had to teach myself new skills just to keep going.
But every struggle has pushed me to grow — as a business owner, as a woman, and as a mom. Even with the challenges, I stay committed to creating something meaningful and building a brand that feels true to who I am.
Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your business?
Sinceramente Única is my little corner of the world where I sell curated 14k gold-filled and stainless-steel jewelry that’s made to last, feel beautiful, and fit into everyday life. I specialize in pieces that are timeless, lightweight, and safe for sensitive skin — jewelry you can actually live in without worrying about tarnishing, irritation, or constantly taking it off. A huge part of my mission is offering high-quality pieces that won’t break your budget. I want women to feel luxurious and confident without having to spend hundreds of dollars to do it.
The name Sinceramente Única came from a very personal place. I wanted something that represented being unapologetically myself. As Latina women, we’re often taught to shrink ourselves or avoid taking up space — to blend in, stay quiet, or doubt whether we belong. But the truth is, we do belong. Every single one of us is one-of-a-kind, and I wanted my brand to reflect that energy, that reminder, and that confidence.
What I’m known for isn’t just the jewelry itself — it’s the experience. I’m proud that my brand has become a space where women feel welcomed, hyped up, and appreciated. I take my time with every customer, whether online or at events. I remember names, I ask about their lives, and I truly care about helping them find pieces that make them feel confident and unique.
What truly sets me apart is the community behind Sinceramente Única. This business isn’t just about selling something pretty — it’s about connection. It’s about building a supportive space for Latina women, moms, creatives, and anyone who wants to feel seen. I want people to walk away feeling like they gained more than jewelry… they gained someone rooting for them.
Brand-wise, I’m most proud of the authenticity behind everything I do, it all comes from the heart and a place of good intentions. And I want readers to know that when they shop with me, they’re not just supporting a small business; they’re supporting a mom, a dream, and a growing community of women empowering each other.
What matters most to you? Why?
What matters most to me is authenticity and connection — both in my life and in my business. I want to live and work in a way that’s true to who I am, without pretending or shrinking myself to fit anyone else’s expectations. That’s why I started Sinceramente Única: to create something that reflects my values, my heritage, and my passion for uplifting others.
I care deeply about building a community where women feel seen, supported, and empowered. Success for me isn’t just about sales or recognition; it’s about the relationships I create, the confidence I help instill, and the example I can set for other Latina women that it’s okay to take up space, to start over, and to pursue fulfillment on your own terms.
At the end of the day, what matters most is impact over everything else — making people feel valued, inspiring growth, and living a life that’s unapologetically mine.
