Today we’d like to introduce you to Brandy Weaver
Brandy, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
I attended The Fashion Institute of Design and Merchandising where I got my Associates in Merchandise Marketing and Bachelors in Business Management. I then started working for Ecomm companies handling all things buying and merchandising, marketing, social media, media/influencer relations, photoshoot coordination, styling, and model bookings. Working in the e-commerce space facilitated invaluable connections with modeling agencies and models, igniting my passion for talent management. From there, I switched to the agenting side of the business working for one of the top modeling agencies in Los Angeles. For the last 7 years, I was a model booker/agent at O Models Agency + started O Creative handling Photographers, Hair Stylists, Makeup Artists, & Fashion Stylists. A few years in I became agency director and eventually vice president of O Models. I always wanted my own agency but a great friend of mine in the industry Taylor Trumbo convinced me to partner with her – she is the best commercial and lifestyle agent while I focus on fashion and beauty so we were a perfect fit. Last May I started and now run Evolve X Models which is the cutting edge fashion and beauty department at Evolve Artists Agency.
I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
Definitely not!
I really started from the ground up not knowing much about being an agent besides what models would tell me on set when I was booking them for ecomm companies. I knew rates, usage and contracts/model releases but that’s about it. I dove head first into trying to learn everything I could about this side of the industry and wanted to become the best agent out there. I surrounded myself by people in the business and asked questions. I scouted models and clients on Instagram and LinkedIn (still do) and would just reach out. It was really just trial and error at first. Over the years it has just been a lot of hard work and dedication. Our industry is always changing and covid was a huge challenge having to shift more into the digital/influencer space and even still today it changed a lot of the castings and casting processes. Then since leaving O which was my baby for 7 years and starting completely over from the ground up brought a lot of obstacles and even more hard work. I had to sign a whole new roster of models, reach out to brands/find new brand contacts telling them my new email and where to find me/send breakdowns and then get models again that these clients wanted to book.

If we knew you growing up, how would we have described you?
Growing up I was social, curious (I still am, I ask a lot of questions about everything haha) and I loved being outside. I grew up in Orange County California and lived in OC, San Diego and Los Angeles over the years. I played competitive soccer including the ODP (Olympic Development Program) from 4-17 and was a butterfly swim champion (held the relay record for over 10 years). I also loved the lakers (did not miss watching a game with my grandpa) and hockey. I am the oldest of three – have a younger sister and brother and my family was very close – usually always at sports or a pool/ grandma and grandpas. Wasn’t really into school until College – FIDM (The Fashion Institute of Design and Merchandising) changed everything for me. I really got into and enjoyed school and business and it was very project heavy which I fell in love with. I have always loved learning and research + I am still like this but when I am into something I really dive head first & give it my all.
