Meet Brandon Peterson of Peterson Event Lighting in North Hollywood

Today we’d like to introduce you to Brandon Peterson.

Thanks for sharing your story with us Brandon. So, let’s start at the beginning and we can move on from there.
In my twenties, I needed work on the weekends to supplement acting revenue. After a few years, I became one of the leads for that company I was working for and was asked to light Seal and Hiedi Klum’s wedding in Mexico independently to save costs. Because it was a success, that same client asked me to light Ron Darling’s wedding in Napa. That, too, was a success and I realized that I love what I do. This was a perfect opportunity to start my business. I bought a few lighting items and stored them in my garage. My apartment became an office 11 years ago. We now have a great warehouse in North Hollywood and continue to light notable events.

Has it been a smooth road?
There’s always challenges with lighting events. Because they are ever changing and in different locations, there will always be new things to consider. There are many probabilities that can put you in a position to not succeed. Problem-solving is part of what I like about this field of work. I think the hardest trials have been people that have worked for me throughout the years. Managing labor is the hardest part of what I do. I believe it is the most sensitive aspect of running a business.

So, as you know, we’re impressed with Peterson Event Lighting – tell our readers more, for example what you’re most proud of as a company and what sets you apart from others.
We transform spaces with light. What sets me apart from most companies is that I make sure that I am always involved in my events. I am successful because I believe its quality and not quantity and therefore only accept a certain amount of work per week. I spend more time thinking about what I can bring that will make an event unique and elevated. I am most proud of developing a strong, reputable company that has sustained through many ups and downs including a major recession.

Let’s touch on your thoughts about our city – what do you like the most and least?
I really like that this particular city is filled with driven, talented people that challenge each other to create interesting work. And there are many clients in Los Angeles that appreciate great looking events and have the budgets to support them. Because I am from the Bay Area, I prefer the weather and nature of Northern California over Southern California.
