Meet Brad Olsen of Super Gourmet Food Truck Jam in Anaheim

Today we’d like to introduce you to Brad Olsen.

So, before we jump into specific questions about the business, why don’t you give us some details about you and your story.
I started my Food Truck Organizing Business 8 years ago sitting at my kitchen table. I had a friend that wanted to get a Food Truck and I was going to book the truck for events. He did not follow through on the Food Truck part so I thought I could still book the trucks myself with other trucks. I thought my wife runs a lot of 5k events and every time I went with her to a 5k Run there were no Food Trucks and after a few 5k runs I thought what about me setting up the Food Trucks myself at the races. So I started reaching out to several 5k Organizers and my first event was the Long Beach Marathon! I sent them an email asking them if they wanted Food Trucks and they said yes! This was on a Monday and the run was Sunday but keep in mind I had no Food Trucks yet as I had not contacted any yet since I was trying to get an event first. So I Googled Food Trucks and got lots of names to contact. So I spent hours finding a truck that was available that day for an all-day event. I was able to book 2 trucks for this event! It was successful and fun!! I have done hundreds of events now in LA and Orange County. Now since I am a great asset to anyone needing food trucks and have been in business for 8 years I have people calling me and emailing for my services. It’s not easy what I do but I found a niche and there is a demand for what I do and I am great at it. Its a lot of work finding events, booking food trucks and promoting the events I attend on social media but very rewarding!

We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
My struggles have been booking Trucks that work best for each event since the events are not the same. Depends on the type of event determines the type of food truck I book. Another struggle is trucks break down. Generators don’t work. Trucks are late to the event. Trucks double book and cancel.

So let’s switch gears a bit and go into the Super Gourmet Food Truck Jam story. Tell us more about the business.
Since I work for myself, I am the everything guy, I wear every hat needed in my business. I am best known as the Food Truck Ambassador. Most proud that I am the best at what I do and the trucks that I work with are awesome!! What sets me apart from the competition is I work my business 7 days a week and every hour that I am not sleeping. I don’t feel there is any competition if there is, I am their competition.

Has luck played a meaningful role in your life and business?
I don’t believe in luck, I believe in you reap what you sow.
