Vanessa has been in the business of offering health and wellness services in the form of fun and energetic connections for more than a decade. Early rooted in yoga and pilates she opened her first studio called Pilates Plus OC in 2008 that quickly grew to three successful locations in Orange County that she ran for almost ten years. She sold Pilates Plus OC to start her two new fitness brands, BOXHAUS and Ekam Yoga & Pilates in 2018.
BOXHAUS has three locations in southern California, these boxing studios boost empowerment and self-confidence, you will walk out floating like a butterfly and stinging like a bee! The judge-free environment that is provided makes it easy for everyone to feel safe, welcome and motivated, while they partake in private or group boxing classes.
Ekam Yoga & Pilates has a compassionate & caring community created around forming a healthy lifestyle. Offering group or private – yoga or pilates sessions while also enjoying the pleasures of a self-serving alkaline water station, organic tea bar, Kombucha bar, Childcare, Showers/Lockers, and an amazing retail store with the best finds.
Both BOXHAUS & Ekam now offer on demand options that she expects will create a large window of growth for the brands, not to mention a surprising new revenue stream she hadn’t expected to add to her bottom line.
We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
The road is always bumpy but that’s what makes life so fun and unexpected! There are some smooth terrains but when you are in growth mode, it should be bumpy and uphill! Staffing has probably been one of the most recent struggles I can share about. Finding humans that are excited to come to work especially when it comes to front desk staff is challenging. I know its not the most invigorating job but its easy work and should be fun. The issue is that we have a lot of younger people applying for those positions and they are usually not there to stay for the long haul. Our new approach is less is more, we are trying to hire team members that are wanting to be more full time and there to grow with our businesses. We want people who see the opportunity to be a part of a pretty awesome health & energy conscious space!

What I am most proud of as a company is the fact that we bring our communities together in a positive, safe & welcoming environment. With acceptance of each other. We truly believe our communities are as one and all connected, we vibrate that energy throughout our staff and members.
What sets us apart is the effort we put into creating the best workspace for employees and create meaningful connections in every community we open our doors in. We link up with other local businesses to provide our employees with opportunities to dive into other health and wellness experiences and offer their employees the same in return at our studios. Creating a larger and larger web of growth opportunities for each other.
