Meet Blake Leon

Today we’d like to introduce you to Blake Leon.

Blake Leon

Hi Blake, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start, maybe you can share some of your backstory with our readers.
I got started acting when I was in college. I have always loved movies and watching actors take on these characters, I thought it was the coolest thing ever. It wasn’t until I was in my last year of school that I committed to wanting to chase this dream and become an actor. In my last year, I took a class on the history of film. During that time, Justin Long was filming his Directorial debut film, LADY OF THE MANOR. Someone from the production walked into the class and said they were trying to fill in a spot and he wrote on the board his email and the material to send in. My buddy told me I should submit what he asked for and see if I cacn get a role in the film. I thought it was ridiculous because I had never acted before and didn’t have any of the requested material. Long story short, I ended up recreating the famous Rocky speech he gave his son outside his restaurant. I sent it in, and the next day, I got an email that I needed to be on set the next day.

That was one of the best experiences of my life. I was on cloud nine, and everyone was so nice. I called my parents when we wrapped and said, “I’m moving to LA after I graduate to become an actor” and they’ve supported me every step of the way.

I got to where I am today through hard work, staying persistent, and consistent. It’s a tough world, and this is an even tougher industry. Everybody will try and take you down. You just have to be able to stay motivated, never back down, and have a greater work ethic than everyone else.

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not, what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
It’s definitely not a smooth road; I don’t think it’s really a smooth road for anybody. The struggles were getting representation. That’s a very hard thing to do because they won’t take you unless you’ve booked a big job or two, but then it’s like, how am I supposed to book the big job without an agent?

It’s this constant game of tug of war. Then you have the struggle of even getting an audition. Getting in the room is one of the hardest parts. Once you’re in the room, the rest is on you and how well you prepared. That’s the best thing an actor can do is prepare. But getting the opportunity to prepare is the hard part.

Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
I’m not really known for anything… yet. One day, I hope to be known for a bunch of roles I’ve been lucky to play.

I’m most proud of the two films we accomplished last year. I was able to learn a lot by making those projects. Things I would have never known, and that’s part of this process: always learning from your mistakes and making the next one even better.

What sets me apart from others is my work ethic and determination. The lengths I’ll go to accomplish my goals and make these projects the best I can are second to none. That’s what separates me. It’s nothing new, but it’s what makes all the difference from becoming the best.

Are there any important lessons you’ve learned that you can share with us?
The most important lesson I’ve learned along my journey is that no matter how bad you want something to happen or how much effort you put into it, always make sure to take your time and don’t rush the process. Always give it your all, but never rush it.
