Today we’d like to introduce you to Adam Blackman and David Cruz.
Blackman Cruz opened its doors in 1993. We set out to be a resource for the adventurous, like-minded designer and decorator as well as collectors looking for the unusual. At any given time, the showroom is full of vintage, antique or one-of-a-kind pieces as well as contemporary items that either come from our line, the Blackman Cruz Workshop or from the minds of the product designers we represent.
Has it been a smooth road?
Having opened during a recession and gotten through the market downturn of 2007 as well as the ups and downs of the ever-changing luxury design world, we have learned that to remain fresh and relevant we need to constantly change. Besides re-freshing the showroom once a week, as owners, we are constantly shopping and bringing fresh items to the store. And as the owners, we are forever looking for the next unusual or provocative or magnificent piece. This is after all what our clients have come to expect.
So, as you know, we’re impressed with Blackman Cruz – tell our readers more, for example what you’re most proud of as a company and what sets you apart from others.
We are an antique and furniture showroom with a very specific point of view. Our own. This approach has set us apart from the beginning. We don’t follow trends. We do our own thing. We have always been proud of the fact that our strength comes from this unique vision.
Let’s touch on your thoughts about our city – what do you like the most and least?
Here in LA, we have room to breathe. We can do without the traffic.

I have a Dartmouth College velvet cap with tassel which Robert (English, who sells at Santa Monica etc) tells me you would be interested in. I’d be happy to send a picture if you are interested.Janet Ramage.
