Meet Bianca Mcfadden

Today we’d like to introduce you to Bianca Mcfadden.

Bianca, please share your story with us. How did you get to where you are today?
As a kid, I remember sitting in the kitchen while my mother pressed out my hair for church on Sunday morning. I know that sounds like every black girl story growing up but it the truth. That’s where it all started for me. My mother would tell me stories of how her mother( my grandmother) would style all the women and little girls in the neighborhood hair on Saturday night or Sunday morning right before they went to church.

My grandmother had six children and this one the ways she would make extra money from working out of her kitchen. For my family getting your hair wash and style in the kitchen was something passed down from generations. I was so interested in hair after hearing my mom stories of my grandmother I started doing my own hair and then my sisters hair. I would look at styles and then try them on my friends. I have a girlfriend named Kiyah who did hair in her mom house and literally made good money while in high school and now has her own salon. I started entering the world of beauty even more in college because every girl wanted their hair, nails or makeup done but it was hard to get off campus. I started braiding guys hair, styling girls hair, makeup, nails all things Beauty! I then left and went to Empire Beauty School around 2006. The experience was amazing and I fell in love even more after I won several hair competitions. I am more of a traveling stylist going to my clients for film, weddings and special events. I still have a full-time job as a Business Office Manager but I make it work until I can open my shop.

I then attended Glamour by Hosway to become a Certified MUA and it was amazing. My brother Sharif Mcfadden the started his own production company “Bodycount Productions which I became the lead Stylist and MUA. He then partner with Rich on CreativeHabits Productions on the film “Invisible War” which I also was the only Stylist for hair, make up and SPX makeup. I pushed myself and studied special effects for this film. I am proud to say that this film was selected for the Indie Night Film Festival. My brand Bianca Artistry is about using your gift your beautiful talent to help bring a vision to life whether that’s for a producer or a client that want to look beautiful. I have been blessed worked on short films, Wedding, Special Event and Editorial photography. I am currently working on Bianca Artistry Online Beauty Boutique to offer the best quality hair extensions, Lashes, great make up tools and you can also schedule your appointments. Thank you for your support and please continue to follow my journey there is so much more to come!

Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
No one’s journey is going to be an easy one. When you are trying to build your brand you want everything to go smoothly but that not being realistic. Life happens and it sometimes pushes you and you have you to take one step back to breath and refocus. Losing my father and then going through a divorce was when that made me take one step back but push forward even harder. Financially it was hard. The key is to understand that God’s makes no mistakes and he has a plan.
