Meet Beth LaVigne of Go Dog LA in Downtown Los Angeles

Today we’d like to introduce you to Beth LaVigne.

Thanks for sharing your story with us Beth. So, let’s start at the beginning and we can move on from there.
I have always been a huge animal lover trying to save every stray animal I saw, it is in my DNA. I started volunteering with rescue groups walking dogs and learned a lot about dog behavior and pack behavior. Through volunteering, I fell in love with a young shepherd mix “Zoe” who needed a home. Zoe quickly changed my life and learning everything “dog” became my passion. My “real job” was in corporate America where I had to travel a lot, the hardest part was the thought of leaving Zoe. I started researching doggie daycares and cage-free boarding facilities bound and determined to find the absolute best fit for my best friend. Through this process, I quickly learned what Zoe and I liked and what we would change if I had my own facility. The rest is history and I am now living my dream with Go Dog LA.

Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
Absolutely nothing in life is always smooth, this we know. The struggle that comes to mind was the growth phase of the business where we had to set Go Dog LA apart from the many, many other facilities in the Los Angeles area. Each business had a different feature that they seemed to highlight but, at the end of the day, every client is looking for trust. We are in a business where we care for people’s furry kids and the dog parents are extremely careful with who they will leave their kids with. Just like the growth phase at the very beginning, we will always focus on earning & fostering our client’s trust.

Alright – so let’s talk business. Tell us about Go Dog LA – what should we know?
Go Dog LA is a cage-free doggie daycare and boarding facility where dogs of all shapes and sizes come to socialize with other friendly dogs. Some pups come to play for the day when their humans are working (or playing!) and some pups spend nights with us when their humans travel. We are known for our 24 hour supervision, sunny outside playgrounds, our cozy slumber party style boarding and, most importantly, the high level care and attention our doggie guests receive. We truly have dog loving employees, it shines through and people notice it. We are the place that every employee will know your pup’s name, who he/she played with, their favorite lounging spots, I could go on and on. The most rewarding thing is when we introduce a new shy pup to the group. Whether they are shy with humans or dogs, it doesn’t matter, our job is to ensure that they blossom. We have all kinds of tricks to help a dog come out of their shell and we are always dedicated to giving the shy “new kid” a boost in confidence. They all end up blossoming and it is a beautiful sight to see.

Any shoutouts? Who else deserves credit in this story – who has played a meaningful role?
Hands down it is the employees who make up the Go Dog LA team and embrace the culture. Whether it is working with the pups in the playground or working with their human’s, we would not be who we are without the employee’s consistent care, compassion and trustworthiness. They say that you know a dog daycare is a great if you see excited pups pulling on their leashes to get in the door. Thanks to the employees, the pups dropped off at Go Dog LA are usually doing just that 🙂
