Today we’d like to introduce you to Bernard Hoyes.
He is a Visual Artist that has resided in L.A for over 35 years and is currently having a 35 year Review of his Art at the Museum of African American Art.
So, as you know, we’re impressed with Caribbean Fine Arts Publishing – tell our readers more, for example what you’re most proud of as a company and what sets you apart from others.
My Artistic concerns have been with spiritual testimony. Using Contemporary expressions has been the driving force to establishing a Visual Voice.
Speaking, Calling to my inner spirit, beckoning into worlds and regions sacred and sanctified in search of the life force that will guide me.
My new works have gotten transformative.
Proof being, bringing a selection of the Revival Series Paintings to life, on Stage, as an Interdisciplinary creative force, using Visual Arts, Video, Dance, African Drums and Voices.
The production titled, “Se7en Paintings, a Story in Performance”, premiered at the Ford Amphitheater Stage in Los Angeles in 2012.
New insights in my application of the Painting discipline have since emerged as a result. A Modernist discourse has evolved. Raw Materials, technology, and raw textures have appeared. Templates harkening back to the Rag Series of the Seventies, when Raw materials and graphics were prevalent in my Artistic exploration.
A unified science has appeared, charged with all my art that went before, including neglected concepts. There is now a Synthesis of varied mediums, as expressed in the multidisciplinary Performance of “Seven Paintings” A Story in Performance.
I would like to continue to explore Synthesis of the Multidisciplinary mediums, free from the financial demands of my everyday life, for the next two years.
Has it been a smooth road?
Being consistent and finding a National Audience has help me locally. My struggles have been making a living with my Art thru out the years without giving up.
