Meet Belle Cagas of Yonder Coffee in Northridge

Today we’d like to introduce you to Belle Cagas.

Belle, please share your story with us. How did you get to where you are today?
It’s a long story but to cut it short, it all started at my aunt’s birthday party when she asked me to have a coffee bar. Being that having a shop at some point in life is a dream, I realized how doable that was and how it could potentially become the full-blown coffee business I’ve been wanting since high school. So, I explored the idea and from that point on, it just spiraled towards where it is now… Yonder Coffee, a coffee catering business.

Has it been a smooth road?
It’s both smooth and rough, much like any other business. The smoothest part is the support from friends and family. I have an amazing crew of people and they have definitely helped in the process of growing this small business. The biggest challenge is dividing my time with having other jobs (I work for non-profits as well) and managing to get my small business going. What makes it feel “smooth” is the fact that I love doing all of them and regardless of what seems like a struggle/challenge, things get done somehow in a timely fashion. It’s nothing short of it is miraculous. 🙂

We’d love to hear more about your business.
Yonder Coffee is a specialty coffee catering business for events. At the moment, we serve pour-over coffee and a cold brew at events. Be it a birthday party, a wedding, a church event, a fundraiser, etc., we’re there! We love leaving each event with new friends and a great time with our clients. We love providing our clients with something they can’t get anywhere else and so at our events, we exclusively brew our Yonder Blend coffee roasted by our friends at Bespoken Coffee Roasters (Corvallis, OR). This blend is only available at our events and on our site.

Because I am big on the outdoors, recently we’ve delved into exploring how we can get coffee conveniently while you’re enjoying outdoors – whether you’re hiking, climbing, or camping. That’s going to be available soon on our site so, watch for it!

Community is huge for us, so we love hosting our events as well when we’re not serving elsewhere. We love to do coffee tastings and coffee crawls with our community. I believe that’s a huge part of who we are… community!

Is our city a good place to do what you do?
Oh, definitely. The San Fernando Valley is in need of more specialty coffee shops. We find a Starbucks or a Coffee Bean at almost every corner in The Valley. While that’s great, I believe small businesses are the fuel for our economy. I am a shop local kind of person, so I love to support small businesses.
