Today we’d like to introduce you to Bella Trost.
Bella, can you briefly walk us through your story – how you started and how you got to where you are today.
Whatever I found passion for in my life – dance, gymnastics, modelling, acting, music, writing, I never could do it just as a hobby. I practiced fanatically and I made all the effort to be among the bests. By the time I got to the university I was the member of the Hungarian National Team of Sports Aerobics, and I traveled around the world representing my country.
After I finished my sports career I had great jobs; I work as a gymnast coach, as a model, as an editor in the television and for awhile as a TV host. There was nothing to complain about but I wanted something bigger, better, and more exciting. When the European Union opened the border for the Eastern Europeans in 2004, I was among the first ones who went abroad to try luck.
I arrived to England with only one piece of luggage, with all my savings, and with bunch of dreams; and suddenly I was just one of the immigrants who tried to learn the language properly and find a job to be able to pay the rent. Settling on my own in a country that I knew nothing about, was harder than I thought. I had to learn to survive on very little… for long. But somehow I accepted it. I believed that having hard times is just part of the process to become successful. As soon as I could afford to pay schools and courses I started to work on a new career.
At first I learnt DJing. A few years later, I was playing at the biggest UK festivals, such as Big Chill and Latitude. Then I went to Ibiza, and I saw the dancers in beautiful costumes in one of the top clubs. I wanted to dance there! I still remember the first night when I stepped on the stage with shaking legs in the very same club a couple of years later. The place was packed with thousands of people and no one knew how proud and happy I was; my dream just come true in that second. Then one day a Facebook photo took me to a different direction. One of my friends was posing in a beautiful bikini on a glamorous stage, her body was transformed amazingly.
I figured out that she started to do bodybuilding competitions. I got my new motivation! To get ready for my first show was the hardest thing I’ve ever done. I fainted, I puked, I collapsed but I pushed it through and I won the world champion trophy in my category. In the next five years, I became a pro athlete and a 5-time champion. Last April I managed to win the WBFF World Championship in Los Angeles. To win a title in America gave me the opportunity to come back to LA and start a new chapter in my story here.
Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
They say, not being where you want in life is OK. Doing nothing about it is not. I’ve beard that in mind. I went on my own to the unknown. Coping with everyday things sometimes was bizarrely hard. I could have gone back home to live an easier, safer life, but being comfortable doesn’t lead you to success. Maybe the road could have been smoother but then I wouldn’t be the person who I am now. I didn’t know how to do things right, I just did my best every single day and I believed. And I think that’s all we can do. Work hard, do our best and keep our dreams alive. The rest will come.
What else should our readers know?
I want to be the next Bond Girl. If I managed to become a bikini model world champion close to 40, everything can happen. If you believe you can, you halfway there. I’m halfway now, I made it to Hollywood…
Any shoutouts? Who else deserves credit in this story – who has played a meaningful role?
You always meet people on your way who help. Sometimes they come to your life for a very short time. Maybe they just open a door for you and then disappear. Someone stays longer, someone stays for a lifetime. Either way, I never forget if someone was good to me and I do make an effort to find the way to show appreciation and gratitude. That’s kind of a life essential to me.
