Meet Bella Brown & The Jealous Lovers aka Carol Hatchett

Today we’d like to introduce you to Bella Brown & The Jealous Lovers aka Carol Hatchett. They and their team shared their story with us below:

Bella Brown & The Jealous Lovers aka Carol Hatchett

Bella Brown & The Jealous Lovers are a Los Angeles-based unit, transplanted from Chicago, that specializes in 60s/70s soul and funk. The band is fronted by the dynamically charismatic and Grammy Award-winning Bella Brown. A fiery female lead singer who is a mixture of Tina Turner and Sharon Jones, with a persona that is reminiscent of the empowered female leads of 70s Blaxploitation films. Backed by the musicianship of The Jealous Lovers, they form a unit that expertly expresses a uniquely modern interpretation of the traditional soul and funk genres in completely live musical performances.

I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
Being an artist, tough issues like receiving revenue from streaming services & proper wages as a Sag-Aftra union member are some of the ongoing challenges for me in this business. Being compensated for my talent, name, image, and likeness are extremely important in maintaining the longevity of my career and having a healthy & prosperous future. I am constantly aware of, navigating, and advocating for resolving those issues.

Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
