Meet Beau Bridgland

Today we’d like to introduce you to Beau Bridgland.

Beau, can you briefly walk us through your story – how you started and how you got to where you are today.
I was born and raised in England and ever since I was a boy, I have absolutely loved cartoons and Nintendo.

One day, I saw the episode of “Inside the Actors Studio” with the cast of “The Simpsons” and I was utterly mezmorized. It was the moment when I truly realized where the voices in the cartoons I watched came from. I thought it looked like an incredibly fun job but being a kid in a small town in the countryside in England, I didn’t actually give any real consideration to the idea of moving to Hollywood and doing voices for cartoons. But years later, I had an epiphany and thought, “Why couldn’t I do voices in cartoons and games and stuff? I could, at the very least, look into it.”

So I researched voiceover in my spare time whilst getting my mathematics degree at University. Then once I got my degree, I started looking into the next steps to take to make my voice acting dreams come true. A few months later, I went to an amazing voice-over convention here in California, where I met so many amazing people and had such a wonderful time. A little over a year later, I came back to take classes and network here in Los Angeles, where I somehow had a trip even more amazing and exciting than the first one. I came back for one final trip before returning to England, knowing that for my dreams to come true, I need to be here in the USA.

So I spent a few years working towards that goal and eventually everything came together for me. In June 2018, I finally moved to America. Ever since, I have had the best time and have gotten to work on some truly spectacular projects at excellent studios, with incredible people.

Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
The toughest time for me was the several year’s gap between my last trip to America and my living here in the USA. It constantly looked like I would be able to move here soon but then it didn’t happen… and that happened over and over and over for years. In that period, the fantastic friends I had made during my trips were all growing, having exciting adventures and moving forward in their careers and their lives, whilst I felt stuck, like being frozen in a block of ice.

We’d love to hear more about your work and what you are currently focused on. What else should we know?
I am a voice actor and I provide the voices you hear in animation, video games, commercials, videos and more.

I am most proud of getting to be in awesome projects such as the animated show “Miraculous: Tales of Ladybug and Cat Noir”, the video game “Trials of Mana”, the English voice for Anglade in the animé movie “Children of the Sea” and doing commercials for companies such as Google.

What sets me apart is that I feel my journey is truly unique. I like to think that when people meet me they can see the passion and enthusiasm I have that brought me here to America. To my knowledge, there are not many young English people out here who are solely focused on the voiceover industry as I am, who came here to the USA specifically to do *this*.

Any shoutouts? Who else deserves credit in this story – who has played a meaningful role?
I had so many wonderful people to whom I am so incredibly grateful – both in England and America. My family were always incredibly supportive and I wouldn’t be where I am without them. During my first America VO trip, I met the amazing Bill “The Voiceover Doctor” Holmes who has looked out for me and guided me during every step of my career ever since – he has been a real mentor to me. I can’t forget to mention Richard Horvitz, who’s teaching and wisdom have had such a profoundly positive impact on my career. Plus, thank you to so many fantastic friends who have continuously cheered me on.
