Today we’d like to introduce you to Basma Hameed.
Hi Basma, so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
When I was two years old, I was involved in a kitchen accident that resulted in 3rd-degree burns on half of my face. I had over 100 reconstructive surgeries but was left with a lot of red discoloration. At 17, I thought of the idea of mixing skin tone pigments and implanting it into my skin to conceal the discoloration. With my experience with makeup at a very young age, I learned all about undertones and color correcting. I tested my scar camouflage technique on myself and saw that it worked. Over the years, my story got out and people with birthmarks, scars, and skin discoloration from all over the world wanted to get the treatment, included Hollywood A-listers, members of Royal Families, Business Moguls, and Influencers. I opened the Basma Hameed Clinic in Toronto, Canada and shortly after my second location in Beverly Hills. In 2018 I started working on Basma Beauty makeup line, I spent the last couple of years formulating a multi-purpose Foundation Stick that can be used to contour and highlight as well. My background as a skin specialist helped me custom develop 40 shades of The Foundation Stick that fits everyone. This has been a dream of mine since I was a little girl.
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
My journey was extremely difficult. I had to learn how to accept my scars and find a way to stay positive and motivated.

Do you have any advice for those just starting out?
Follow your dreams, it’s never going to be a smooth ride but try to enjoy the lows as much as the highs. Invest in yourself and continue to learn.
