Meet Bailey Moses of Orangewood Guitars in Playa Vista

Today we’d like to introduce you to Bailey Moses.

So, before we jump into specific questions about the business, why don’t you give us some details about you and your story.
I started my music career working in vinyl record production. I worked for a small studio in Arizona that manufactured artistically designed 7” records. When I moved to LA, I segued this experience into a marketing position with a record subscription company. From there, I got the opportunity to join the Orangewood team as the Artist Relations and Marketing Coordinator. As a guitar player myself, this was a dream job to help distribute and promote the instrument that I love so much.

Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
I’ve been fortunate to have had a pretty smooth path in my career. I’ve worked with wonderful people who have always helped to move my career forward. I strongly believe surrounding yourself with caring, hard-working people makes all the difference.

Alright – so let’s talk business. Tell us about Orangewood Guitars – what should we know?
Orangewood is one of the first B2C e-commerce guitar companies that specialize in making high-quality guitars at affordable prices. Everyone I work with is passionate about music and we believe that guitar is a crucial part of our culture. It’s been our mission to make guitars accessible to everyone – no matter their background.

At Orangewood, we are taking a modern approach to the guitar industry. We love traditional guitar-based music, but we are also passionate about the variety of differing genres that are using guitars in unconventional ways. As the artist relations manager, I work with a wide range of musicians that are the future of guitar music.

Is there a characteristic or quality that you feel is essential to success?
I feel successful when someone says that they purchased an Orangewood Guitar after seeing one of their favorite artists playing one of ours. A big part of my daily work is to source artists that we want to support and bring in as members of the Orangewood family. I strive to partner with a diverse range of musicians to reach a wide audience and introduce more people to the instrument. I know how influential the guitar has been in my personal life and I believe everyone should feel welcome in the guitar community.

Especially as a guitar player in a band myself, I’ve felt this unique connection when younger kids tell me that my band’s music has meant something to them. Teens have reached out on social media and told me they started a band themselves after seeing us play. There’s no greater feeling than knowing that you’ve helped someone feel seen and represented. That’s what music is all about!
