Today we’d like to introduce you to Austine Maxfield.
Austine, can you briefly walk us through your story – how you started and how you got to where you are today.
I’m originally from Chicago, I was a freelance makeup artist for the last 12 years and I really was burnt out and just kind of lost my passion for makeup and I wasn’t sure where to go from there or what my next calling would be, but it came about pretty organically because EverythingIcedd is more than just jewelry, it’s who I am as a person. My style is 100% casual most days and I love to dress it up and make it cute with the right accessories and just the right amount of sparkle, and I believe your jewelry can make anything look put together. You don’t have to be super glammed up to feel special. Everything, every day, every moment can have a little bit of glitter. Because it is something that is a reflection of you, everything I choose is hand-selected and a lot of thought goes into the pieces I feature on my site.
I didn’t know what it was going to grow into so I started small to test the waters with three rings and once I realized there are other people out there who want nice accessories at affordable prices, I decided to be the one to offer it. Now my collection is growing, and I offer many different things from anklets to earrings, sunglasses, and as of recently I added my first purse, but the thing that will always stay the same is the quality. I have far more than just those three rings now and a clear vision of how big I can build my brand. It wasn’t easy by any means, and I had moments where I struggled with my vision and felt like I wasn’t doing enough, but I never gave up because it’s so exciting to have something that’s a piece of you evolve just as I do.
Has it been a smooth road?
The road was most definitely not smooth, lol! I started with an idea but had no idea what it would grow into and I wasn’t exactly prepared for what I was supposed to do next. This was my first venture into Ecommerce and accessories so I was pretty much just winging it. I struggled with product photos, packaging, website layout, I mean pretty much everything, lol! Everything was trial and error, but I kept working at it everyday and still do. When building a brand, you want everything to be perfect right away, you look at bigger brands and think if you don’t look like that, you’re not up to par, but that’s really not the case. Everyone has to start somewhere and as long as you’re honest and you really care about the integrity of your brand, people will support you.
So, as you know, we’re impressed with EverythingIcedd – tell our readers more, for example what you’re most proud of and what sets you apart from others.
EverythingIcedd is an accessory/jewelry line. We specialize in jewelry but there are also sunglasses, some apparel, and purses. Originally the brand was known for our Kira ring, which is a beautiful eternity band, it’s still one of our best sellers to date. One of the things I’m most proud of as a company is the feedback from customers on the quality and customer service. I think those two things really set us apart and those are two key things that no matter how big the company may grow, I’ll never let change.
Let’s touch on your thoughts about our city – what do you like the most and least?
I LOVE the scenery, the grass walls, the flowers, the hand-painted murals everywhere, I really found my niche here when it came to my social media content and product photos. I also love how laid back the city can be and that partially inspired my style, like let’s throw on some biker shorts an oversized tee and then add some really nice jewelry to that outfit and nobody really notices you barely tried when you show up to brunch. I really do love LA and I can’t say there’s much I don’t like about the city except I wish it had better fast food lol, coming from Chicago, were known for our food so I’d say that’s the only downfall.
