Today we’d like to introduce you to Austin Lampson.
Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
While most folks snoozed through Economics class in high school, I feel in love with the idea that, “There is no such thing as a free lunch.” The backwards flow of money and logistics to deliver it to the consumer is fascinating to me. Having fallen into consumer finance by chance when I was 18, I shifted my focus to mortgages at the age off 22. I’ve seen crashes, slowdowns, poor decisions, and desperate actions – and I’ve tailored my practice to help folks work through a system that is laced with compliance, regulation, commoditization and market pressures so that our clients can win. Owning real estate is not only one of the most accessible ways to build wealth, housing stability is essential to create healthy communities. Working together works, and I truly believe that responsible lending is one of the highest forms of community service.
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
We literally take the sum of your past decisions and work through the nuances of the day so you can achieve your goals. Between human nature, market conditions and tight competition challenges are par for the course. Our mission is to overcome the obstacles around us so our clients can walk through their front door to create memories with families and friends. There are few days that do not present a challenge, and that’s the point: otherwise I feel folks should just use a bot. Professionals are here to be your advocate and ally – not only back you if the road is smooth.
Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
While my day to day lies nestled between paperwork and phone calls, I love brining joy and color to this world. I started printing gratitude journals on Amazon a few years ago when I noticed a holiday project really was making a difference in the mental health of those around me. I have brought together CalTrans, Santa Barbara County, Montecito Neighborhood Association and grass roots volunteerism to help create a mural that brings color and accessible art to anyone that wants to take a stroll near Butterfly Lane. I find that we can all do little projects here and there that add simply beauty to the world around us.
Can you talk to us a bit about happiness and what makes you happy?
I believe my purpose is to bring light to this world. It makes me happy seeing folks achieve goals they didn’t know were possible by the job I do each day. I makes me happy to help kids feel safe to explore in MOXI’s STEAM environment where I serve on the Board of Directors. It makes me happy to see our clients grow their families, careers and gardens. I’m blessed that I am in a career that impacts everything from the home you wake up in, to the community living around us.
