Athena, please share your story with us. How did you get to where you are today?
Pen and Paper Graphics was founded in 2013. After graduating from the University of Washington, I desired to create an affordable design firm catered to start-up businesses. The company’s focus is building innovative designs, tailored to giving individuals brand awareness that is not only striking, but creates lasting impressions.
After 3 short years, I’ve landed reputable clients such as Hollywood’s Fierce Food Group, Beverly Hills Surgeons, and SilverbirdTV to name a few.
My mission is to create affordable designs comparable to any large firm and go above and beyond my client’s expectations by creating thoughtful designs mixing modern beauty and simplicity. My goals as a female entrepreneur is to inspire, educate, and give the proper tools businesses need to succeed.
Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
Building a business from the ground up has definitely had its ups and downs. It was a struggle for me knowing what to price my services in the beginning- I tend to under quote and as a result working way over what I was charging.

Pen & Paper Graphics is a company tailored to logo and branding development. I create customized logos and business cards for start-up companies as well as medium – large size companies in need of a branding make-over. My designs are sleek, chic, and simple which are very in demand in today’s business world. I am very hands on and go in depth into understanding the company’s core values, mission, and in turn creating the best look for their brand.

I’ve had a lot of mentors throughout this process. Going to the University of Washington School of Fine Arts, I learned the basic fundamentals of creating art. This allowed me to visualize everything from the foundation, which could be lines, structure, colors, and purpose.
