Meet Asmi Hussain of EPISKINZ Spa & Salon

Today we’d like to introduce you to Asmi Hussain.

Asmi, can you briefly walk us through your story – how you started and how you got to where you are today.
Belong to a family where women were homemakers and housewives, after a bad marriage with my mother’s encouragement who took care of my baby boy. Started as a skin care professional in 1985, as had a passion for learning skin, my parents supported me to learn, went to the UK took classes. Started working full time as a salon manager, esthetician and makeup artist, then a girl from the very deprived background came in my life as a helper in salon kitchen she had a passion like me to learn. She was my first student Taby who I trained and taught the skill, this experiment was very successful, clients loved her work, then this girl died in an accident.

So this was a turning point for me, I decided to teach more and share my knowledge. Started teaching girls this skill free of charge and helped them with job placement, was awarded by the government of Sindh Pakistan for skill development. Did tv shows about and wrote in newspapers to educate about skin & makeup. Then moved to US California, started again from scratch as an esthetician then was offered an educator job in cosmetology school. So now esthetician instructor for about 17 years, have a lot of students who are settled in this trade. With God’s help, my family always supported me with their financial and physical support EPISKINZ spa & salon is formed and opened in 2016.

It was not an easy venture, finding location, designing spa salon, business logo, cards, service menu, permits, sanctions, employee hiring, website, social media channels, product selection, all happened had to work for it. Still working non stop to get more clients more business. As to me never give up, keep going, no looking back, think positive. We here at episkinz offer quality services with best results, which makes the clients keep coming back. I support a lot of charities, volunteer and support child & domestic abuse programmes and workshops.

Has it been a smooth road?
not a smooth road at all living in a joint family in united states, stepchildren, a teenager and 13-hour job, financial struggle, cooking, cleaning, groceries, no driving, but when there is a will there is away. It’s your own will if you want to make it easy for you, its personal choice, make it or feel hard it becomes hard.
