

Today we’d like to introduce you to Ashlee Patterson.
Hi Ashlee, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today?
Originally from Cleveland, OH, I’ve been living in Los Angeles, CA for the past six years. My passion for culinary arts and fashion has always been a part of my life. As a child, I would plan elaborate multi-course meals for my family on Sundays and design printed menus to highlight each course. When it was time to choose a college major, I had to decide between Culinary School and Fashion School. Ultimately, I chose Fashion Merchandising at Kent State University. While I enjoyed my studies, I realized that my passion for the fashion industry was waning.
During the pandemic, I had ample free time and decided to pick up cooking again for fun. As I researched new recipes, I found myself drawn to baking and cake decorating. I experimented with different recipes and multiple decorating techniques, quickly becoming obsessed with cake decorating. I decided to start my own business specializing in fresh floral buttercream cakes, Ashlee Alexandra Cakes, in 2021. My love for fresh florals, inspired by my mother’s green thumb and my own childhood experiences of planting flowers and vegetables, met my passion for baking and culinary arts.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Moving from Cleveland to Los Angeles was a major transition, particularly in terms of lifestyle. Adjusting to a new city meant that I had to learn the area and find the neighborhoods that felt like home. Eventually, I settled on West LA as my preferred location. However, building a community in a new city was a challenge, and I had to actively seek out opportunities and connections since I didn’t know anyone in Los Angeles. This wasn’t my first experience living in a big city, as I had previously lived in New York City for a year, which gave me a glimpse into the realities of living in a largely populated city.

As a self-taught cake decorator, I have cultivated an unwavering dedication to the creation of sumptuous, high-end cakes that exude elegance and refinement. My passion lies in crafting each and every cake from scratch, using high ingredients too create a delectable flavor profile. With a keen eye for design, I channel my artistic vision into each cake, ensuring that every detail is carefully considered and every element is executed with precision.
Drawing upon a deep appreciation for the natural world, I endeavor to incorporate the fresh, vibrant hues and scents of seasonal blooms and roses into my designs, lending each cake a touch of organic beauty and femininity. I take great pride in the ability to infuse each confection with a sense of luxury and exclusivity while remaining mindful of the unique desires and tastes of my clients.
At the heart of my creative process is an unyielding commitment to delivering a truly exceptional customer experience. I understand that each cake is a personal and cherished creation, and as such, I approach each order with the utmost care and attention to detail. I am dedicated to delivering an unparalleled level of quality and service, ensuring that each cake not only looks magnificent but also delights the senses with an irresistible taste that lingers long after the last bite.

Both of my parents are Jamaican and I love doing water sports activities.
