Meet Gary Ashby of Ashby Maintenance Services in Covina

Today we’d like to introduce you to Gary Ashby.

Thanks for sharing your story with us Gary. So, let’s start at the beginning and we can move on from there.
I had this idea of starting my own business, a family business. At first, I thought it was just a dream and that it wouldn’t be possible. I was afraid to take that leap from a guaranteed paycheck every week to having faith that ends would be met every week. My wife and children stood behind me and told me that had my back no matter what. I took that leap and in just five months’ time I’ve got a work volume which is overwhelmingly a struggle to make everything fall into place and keep all of my customers happy. Leaving a job with the customer smiling makes it all worth it. I can tell you and the whole world that if I can do it and succeed that anyone can do it. I do not take credit for any of this. I believe that I owe any and all successes to God. Honesty integrity and loyalty that’s what I believe in.

Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
It has not been a smooth road to say the least. I struggle everyday, sometimes wondering what’s going to happen next week but it always works itself out and I always dress up as usual and have a job to do.

Alright – so let’s talk business. Tell us about Ashby Maintenance Services – what should we know?
I have a Christian based family business. It is mainly maintenance and repairs commercial and residential. I install toilets, sinks, countertops, and ceiling fans. I patch holes in walls, match up paint and texture. I also do stucco patching, repair wooden fences, rotten window frames, patio awnings and many other household repairs. I install windows and doors as well as for frames. I would say what sets me apart from the others is my customer service. My favorite saying is “I’m not leaving until you tell me you’re happy.” I don’t mind losing money on a job as long as the customers happy when I leave.

Any shoutouts? Who else deserves credit in this story – who has played a meaningful role?
I started this thing on a whim. I would say that God and my family have played a big role in my success. They give me the reason to get up every morning and to keep going as hard as I can go, and something to come home to at the end of the day with appreciation for what I do. I live an Amazing Life and I wouldn’t trade it for the world.
