Today we’d like to introduce you to Ash Bazar.
Ash, can you briefly walk us through your story – how you started and how you got to where you are today.
I’m a Los Angeles native, born in Glendale. I started doing hair because of my mother, in junior high, she would have me touch up her color and I fell in love with hair instantly. I also have two sisters who would let me practice on them all the time. I went to beauty school called marinello in Burbank.
My first salon, I worked at was called Carlton Hair int. And, I worked with them for 7 years. During those 7 years, I got received education from Vidal Sassoon and bumble and bumble. After Carlton Hair, I started to work at Rudy’s barber shoo-in West Hollywood, and that is where I perfected cutting men’s hair. After Rudy’s, I worked for a salon called the Hive for four years. I recently left the Hive and I’m starting at a salon called the Harbor in Silver Lake.
We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc. – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
In the beginning, my parents were not happy about me going to beauty school, they wanted me to finish college. I started going to cal state L.A but soon realized, I had to follow my passion, so I dropped out and started beauty school. After they saw my passion and how quickly I excelled in the hair world they backed off and now fully support me.
We’d love to hear more about your business.
I am in the business of beautifying people and I love every second of it. I am known for transformation hair, big changes. Also known for taking chances and not being scared of trying new things. I am proud of the clientele I have built and the relationship I have with my clients.
What were you like growing up?
Growing up, I was shy and quiet with people I didn’t know. And, with my friends and family, I was usually the jokester. I guess I would consider my self a social introvert. I’ve always loved music and try to include in all aspects of my life. I loved doing everyone’s hair growing up, cousins, sisters, neighbors.
