Meet Arnau Bosch Verges of SoundStorming in Culver City

Today we’d like to introduce you to Arnau Bosch Verges.

Arnau, let’s start with your story. We’d love to hear how you got started and how the journey has been so far.
I’ve been working on advertising for the last 15 years, but I’ve been playing the guitar my whole life. I studied music for nine years, but I follow my advertising career instead and my guitar followed me wherever I moved. From Amsterdam to San Francisco and Los Angeles, I’ve been employed as a creative director for international brands like Nike, Adidas, Skype, Coca-Cola, Lego and BMW. For the last four years, I’ve been a Group Creative Director for Apple at Media Arts Lab where I’ve been responsible for leading global campaigns for the brand and been involved with top experts in the music industry. From the launch of Apple Music platform to the launch of the AirPods and HomePod, as well as the world’s biggest product launch in 2018: the iPhone. For the launch of the HomePod I worked closely with film director Spike Jonze and it was recognized and awarded at the top international festivals like the Cannes Lions Awards where it won 2 Silver Lion, 2 Gold Lion, and the Grand Prix Lion for Entertainment for Music.

While traveling and living in all this cities, I kept looking for people to play music with since that is my true passion. I found myself recording Musical Ideas on my phone and trying to share those with the people that I jam or make Music with but I struggled finding an easy way to do so. Throughout the last three years, I’ve been analyzing the Music Industry. From the channels that Musicians use to collaborate with each other to the platforms they use engage with their audiences. Even tough there’re unlimited ways to make music we all record the first ideas on our phones. From top Artist to amateur Musicians, we all struggle to organize and share them with the people that we work and collaborate with. That’s why I created SoundStorming. A platform where musicians, songwriters and artists can create, collaborate and connect by sharing their musical ideas in a global community.

We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
There’s never an easy path to something great. And we are just starting. But one of the biggest challenges we’ve encountered is making people to understand why are we different from other platforms and why this can be huge for the Music Industry. There’s an overload of platforms and tools and it’s hard to convince users to download a new one.

So let’s switch gears a bit and go into the SoundStorming story. Tell us more about the business.
SoundStorming is a free app available for iOS that allows musicians to record their musical ideas, share them in a global community of artists and collaborate with other music makers from around the world.

To this point, Artists had to become experts on new media and adapt to the way Social Platforms work. Coming up with Images and content because they are always-on channels that consumers demand for more every day. We created a platform that adapts to the way Artists live and work. So we focused on the content that they are already creating on a daily basis and giving them the tools to organize it, share it, and collaborate with it. SoundStorming is 100% about music. You are valued by your talent and not your looks, it’s a fair place and non-judgmental platform.

Our mission is to connect, inspire and empower the next generation of musicians through music creativity.

We are really honored to count with a really strong team of advisors with people like the Co-Founder of Pandora Jon Kraft, Former CCO at Apple Music Steve Turner, and Musician and Grammy-Winner Dave Kushner.

We are outlining a launch campaign partnering with the top Music Schools.

How do you think the industry will change over the next decade?
The industry is rapidly moving to a place where self-sustained and DIY artists will have the control. With the production tools that are available and the speed that the industry is moving, consumers need more and more content and are desperate to get more direct access to their artists. Distribution channels are controlled by big companies and to stand out on the social media is an uphill lifestyle battle that divides us instead of connecting us. Simple, real, raw, unedited, collaborative and about Music, is the type of content we want to focus on.
