Meet Armen David of STARMEN

Today we’d like to introduce you to Armen David

Hi Armen, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
I’m Armen David, the founder and Executive Director of STARMEN, an award-winning brand development and management agency based in Los Angeles. Growing up in Hollywood, I was immersed in a world of creativity and storytelling, and the city’s diverse culture taught me the magic of brands and their ability to connect with people.

My entrepreneurial journey began early. Working in my father’s footwear business and traveling around the world, I saw first-hand the power of effective marketing. This ignited my passion, leading me to earn a BS in Business and Marketing and an MBA in Business Management. In 2006, I founded STARMEN in my father’s factory, with a vision to transform brand experiences. We started small, but our innovative strategies quickly gained attention.

Hollywood soon became the perfect setting for our headquarters. Over the years, we’ve launched over 250 brands and developed strategies for over 500 clients, from startups to national names. Our work has earned numerous international awards, but it’s the relationships and stories that truly define us.

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Starting STARMEN came with significant challenges. Establishing our presence in the competitive Los Angeles market required relentless networking and proving our value with every project. Managing a creative business isn’t straightforward; it means creating a supportive environment where new ideas can thrive. Finding the right team members and building strong partnerships took time but proved invaluable.

One of the biggest challenges we face today is balancing technology with human connection. The digital marketing landscape is constantly evolving, with new tools and platforms emerging every day, yet authenticity is diminishing. Our goal is to use technology to complement, not replace, the human element in our work.

Consumers today are more informed and selective than ever. They look for authenticity and genuine connections, so it’s crucial for us to create brand experiences that feel real and personal. This requires both creativity and an understanding of human nature and cultural trends.

Building and maintaining strong partnerships continues to be a challenge. It takes effort to form and nurture reliable relationships, but these collaborations are key to our success. They enable us to take on projects that push us to grow and innovate.

Great, so let’s talk business. Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
At STARMEN, our mission is to drive change and inspire growth. We believe that branding is about how people see and feel about you. Whether launching new brands and products or transforming existing ones, we ensure that every aspect of the brand experience is cohesive and effective throughout the entire brand journey.

We’ve had the privilege of working with prominent brands across different industries, from fashion and entertainment to consumer products, health and wellness, and robotics. This includes brands such as the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, Gatorade, Wolfgang Puck, and ITV America. We have also earned numerous internationally accredited awards, including Best in Class from Interactive Media Awards, Innovator Award from Summit Emerging Media Award, and numerous highest honors at AVA, Marcom, W3, Hermes, Horizon, Telly, Communicator, and New Media Awards.

What do you like and dislike about your work?
What I love most about my work at STARMEN is the creative process of helping brands tell their unique stories. There’s a thrill in seeing a brand come to life and thrive, knowing we’ve played a part in its success. The journey from an idea to a fully realized brand that resonates with people is nothing short of magical.

I also enjoy striking the balance between creativity and business goals. Each project presents its own challenges, and finding ways to meet those challenges while allowing creativity to flourish is very rewarding. Of course, it’s not always easy. The complexities and unpredictability can be tough, but they also make our work interesting and dynamic.

One of the most rewarding aspects of my job is the relationships and partnerships we’ve built over the years. Working closely with clients and partners on new projects is something I deeply value. On the flip side, the need to constantly adapt and evolve can be both exciting and tiring. While it’s essential to stay current, it often feels like a never-ending race. Despite this, the excitement of building and leading STARMEN, along with impact we create together, makes it all worthwhile.
