Today we’d like to introduce you to Ariel Jose
Hi Ariel, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
Born in Miami ,FL to a Guatemalan Mother and Nicaraguan father , I always knew that I had a burning passion for the art of acting. My mother and aunt would watch soap operas and I would join them. I’d pin point my favorite character and I would imagine myself being that character and even playing pretend that I was him. I got a taste of what it meant to audition for a role and I got the opportunity with Radio Disney to be a regular on their broadcast. I didn’t not get the role but at that moment I was just a kid being a kid. Senior year of high school was the first time that acting felt more real to me. I took drama class and participated in many shows , such as The hunchback of Notre dame or Al Capone. After graduating high school , I put acting on hold to pursue a degree in health services administration because the adults told me that it was the safe thing to do. Life just hit me , I was focused on school , hanging out with the wrong crowd and that caused me to stop believing in myself . I felt that I didn’t have what it took to be an actor or I wasn’t good looking enough. At age 25, I had an epiphany. It was at this moment that I found a new support system with my current social circle and those friends were the ones that pushed me back into acting. I signed up for an on camera acting class and I found my calling , I found my safe space. I took the entertainment industry by storm. It started with music videos as an extra , then movies , then commercials and I am only continuing to grow. My most recent role as the Blue Haired cartel leader in the movie Phoenix (Out now on Tubi) has to be one of my most significant roles so far and this is only the beginning. I moved to Los Angeles a few months ago to continue to work on my craft and further my career and it has been the best decision that I have made . You just wake up everyday with this strong feeling of inspiration. On my free time , I enjoy painting , getting together with friends to create films, and going on hunts for who has authentic NY pizza when not in NY. Fun fact about me , I’m a huge Resident Evil nerd and I have watched every show , every movie ,and played every video game in the franchise. Thanks for listening to my Ted Talk.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
Success does not just happen over night although it is not far fetched. You really have to put in the work to be where you want to be. My Journey in Los Angeles has been just that , a Journey which involves discipline. I wake up at 5 am everyday , so that I can have time to work out , eat a wholesome breakfast , read and meditate. After that I work everyday and have to squeeze acting classes into my schedule. Every now and then there are late nights and I have to still make time to look through auditions , make time to attend events to network and I am by no means complaining . You see , people have this misconception that you just show up , get in front of the camera , and go home. I have had plenty of nights where I’m sick of not having time for myself , there are times where I feel down because I go months without talking to my friends because all I want to do is get some rest with the only free time that I have. There have been times where I go months without projects and I sit there and question myself if it was all worth it and my answer will always be that it was, why ? Because I kept my dreams alive till the very end and that to me is a gift.
Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
I am an actor known to play villainous roles , which is funny because it is the polar opposite of who I am as a person. What sets me apart from others is that , I seek the truth in story telling. Those tears that you see ? They came from the heart not from a bottle of clear eyes , that laughter you see? That laugh continued after the director yelled cut. They were emotions felt , not acted and I am proud of that.
So maybe we end on discussing what matters most to you and why?
Judgement free places, we all have something to bring to the table and we all have the ability to shine without being afraid of any judgement.
