Today we’d like to introduce you to Aramis Hernandez.
Aramis, please share your story with us. How did you get to where you are today?
My company, INC Technologies, is the accumulation of years of hands on technology practice; starting with repairing my family’s first computer after I broke it in just under two hours after we got it home. At 12 years old, I learned that IT doesn’t sleep, and neither did I that night. After pulling an all-nighter, learning rudimentary DOS, and re-installing the operating system; I was hooked on trouble shooting and problem solving everything technology can throw at me. People, friends, teachers, college & career counselors – I was their go-to for everything tech.
We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
Although I spent two years in college studying to be a Biogeneticist, I was already logging full time hours running an IT business out of my dorm. My first client was a referral from my high school guidance counselor, and she is still a client to this day. Whether it was writing a program to help her automate a property management system, accomplishing in five hours what used to take her a full month, or riding a bus for hours to pick up, fix and return a computer; I realized I had a calling. The hardest part was taking INC Technologies from a sole proprietor operation and scaling it to meet my client’s demands. There isn’t a playbook, like ‘Starting an IT Company for Dummies’, that could tell me how to grow my business and keep the level of customer satisfaction that I had established. I’m pleased to say, although I’m always learning, I’ve been able to figure it out.
So let’s switch gears a bit and go into the INC Technologies story. Tell us more about the business.
At INC Technologies, we are very proud of the reputation we have built exclusively through word of mouth – client after client, year after year. I’ve sustained our reputation, even though the company has grown. I am proud of the individuals that work with me and understand our values.
INC Tech is different from other IT companies in that we have a very diverse services menu, but we support it with an accomplished specialist in each area. Most IT companies are a jack of all trades, but a master of none; at INC, we offer a master in each area. Our 95% client retention and 98% staff retention percentages illustrate our accomplishment.
Has luck played a meaningful role in your life and business?
I define our overall success as being able to support a growing number of specialists. The more demand for our services, the more people I can hire, and the more resources I can offer to my clients. I’m proud every time I can confidently offer a new cutting-edge technology.
