Today we’d like to introduce you to April Pfender. She and her team share her story with us below.
Please give us some background on April’s story.
April’s healing path started on the East Coast in Pennsylvania, where she spent her early years. After finding a yogic path, her awakening path began to unfold in front of her naturally. She felt drawn to the City of Angels for reasons then unknown, but her guides had plans for her greater awakening. She studied Reiki while working in the corporate space and over the course of a few years, she started exploring and adding in various other healing modalities into her practice. Healing often finds us in waves when we need it most. She would return to her dedicated practice throughout the years to cope with breakups, corporate life and friends who she no longer connected with emotionally.
Over time, she felt more and more separated from the matrix of her “work-to-live” career path in Advertising. She was drawn back again and again to her Energy practice each time she sought out more aligned friendships or something wasn’t clicking for her. Depressed, anxious and exhausted, April dove into Meditation to begin to balance her work-life.
Finally, she decided after years of working for someone else to take the leap and start her own business doing what she loved. She founded Santa Monica Healing to begin to share the gift of Energy medicine professionally and launched several collections of energetic jewelry under the same name. Working with crystals was a passion project that drove her creatively, and helping to heal others was a service path of her highest calling. She was trained in sound healing and meditation instruction and adding spiritual coaching services to her repertoire in 2015.
Since the birth of Santa Monica Healing, she has authored several books as a leading expert on the chakra system and on meditation. She now holds space as a ceremonialist and women’s retreat facilitator in addition to hosting private events and workshops. Reiki Privates & Trainings along with Meditation, continue to be April’s core offering, and she enjoys continuing her jewelry creation on the side as her passion-project.
April, let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
I personally struggled with creating spaciousness/integration time for myself when I first came off the corporate circuit. The masculine discipline that carried me in a business-world (do more, be more, get it done yesterday) wore me thin and didn’t serve my new yin nature. I was stepping into and embodying… and asking others to embody! I had to learn to build in extra time blocks from my otherwise overpacked schedule and I had to break through limiting beliefs that I was, in fact, doing enough – even when other people were doing more. I had to call in massive levels of support and rise up to my own standards of self-sufficiency without the guilt if I gave myself a day off a week.
In addition, I had to use what skills I had learned in my decade long career in marketing to set myself up for success. I created all day and night and reached out to everyone in my network to ask for referrals and get the word out that I was changing tacts and going into business for myself. I learned what I needed to, to work the Instagram algorithms and build a website and email list from scratch. And most importantly, I learned the power of what I could create when I put my mind to it.
The worst parts were, at the time, allowing friendships of the past to naturally fall away. What is meant for us will not miss us, and many times when we are going through a Dark Night of the Soul, only the people on your vibration will still remain after the smoke and fog clears. Such is sacrifice and struggle of a Modern Mystic.
Please tell us about Santa Monica Healing. What else should we know about April and the brand?
April Pfender is a Reiki Master Teacher, Author, Retreat Guide, Sacred Sound / Quantum Healer and Meditation Instructor living in Santa Monica, California. She is the founder of Santa Monica Healing, which specializes in Reiki and Quantum Healing practices. She’s passionate about guiding others to embrace their own multidimensionality through Ascension work, Healing, and Activational Offerings, which she hosts throughout the year.
She is most proud of growing into my Leadership abilities this year – holding greater space, enabling others in their own expansion, and teaching Reiki which is so satisfying to bring new lightworkers online. (April teaches All levels of Reiki). She also practices and holds multiple Reiki Masteries including traditional Usui (Japanese) Reiki and Reiki Tummo (non-traditional, working with Kundalini energy).
April’s reiki programs are the most comprehensive Reiki training courses in Southern California, and she offers level 1 in a two-day-10-hour course. In 2020, she will be offering reiki in digital format with live online webinars for attunement days so stay tuned!
The Quantum Resonance crystal healing bed was added to her healing practice in 2019. There are only 33 of these powerful beds, and this healing technology is so advanced that she is actually helping to pioneer bio-hacking through Sound Healing frequencies. Most of the frequencies for healing common and rare diseases are carefully mapped, and there is still so much to uncover.
If you had to start over, what would you have done differently?
Of course, there are likely a pile of small ‘mistakes’ (usually small monetary squanders) that you wish you could revisit and revise… but overall, my belief is that we are exactly where we are meant to be at any given moment. Thusly, and due to a large part of me trusting my own channel heavily, I’m secure in knowing that every action, regrettable or otherwise, has led me here, now, to you. Therefore, the answer should be obvious 🙂 I wouldn’t change a thing.
