Meet Anttoni Lopez of Alpha Male Cosmetics

Today we’d like to introduce you to Anttoni Lopez.

Anttoni, can you briefly walk us through your story – how you started and how you got to where you are today.
As a young kid, I knew that I wanted to do something that would make a difference in changing the world or the culture. So I started getting into modeling, acting, and dancing and I started modeling a lot more and I got obsessed with makeup. Makeup makes me feel so good that I started to learn more about it. One day I broke out from wearing make up that wasn’t created for my skin especially at a young age I was getting older so my skin was changing. I lost a lot of work.  I decided to see if there were any products on the market that were created or made for men. There wasn’t really nothing on the market at the time.

I did see a couple of companies that had some products that were for guys, but they weren’t really being promoted as much. There wasn’t a full line of makeup for men on the market. So I decided to do more research and just keep learning about make up products, and the chemicals in them. I found a manufacturing company and met with a chemist and sat down and created something that would be just for men. It took me three years to really get it together.

Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Everyone goes through struggles and I’ve went through a lot of them. From having to work extra hours, putting all my money into my business with no help or even investors. Some days not eating. There were nights were I didn’t sleep or days were I didn’t eat. I also had so much fear with trying to figure out if this was the right thing to do. Based on the stigma and what the world viewed as manly or masculine it was definitely scary to push something for men, especially makeup. The struggles of presenting a makeup line for men are pretty hard specially because men already think that make up is gay or feminine. So trying to break the stereotype has been my biggest struggle

Tell us more about your business.
I’ve had my business for about five years now, it’s the first full line of makeup on the market for men. The full line consist of  BB cream, liquid foundation, liquid concealer, powder foundation, beard pencil, primer, and setting spray. I actually took the time to learn about makeup and products and decided that I wanted to inspire people. I’m also proud that this is actually just for men something that I feel will allow us to just have for ourselves. That is what sets me apart from every other brand is that this is created for the every day guy.

What moment in your career do you look back most fondly on?
There are so many moments  so far in my career that’s I can look back on and say wow I did it. From different magazine interviews, different radio interviews, I’m starting to get more TV interviews as well but I think for me bringing awareness to the brand making it more open that more men are knowing alpha male cosmetics is probably my proudest moment so far.
