Meet Antonello Dato of Burrata House in Palms

Today we’d like to introduce you to Antonello Dato.

Burrata House is now open and serving fresh burrata panini from their flagship cafe at 3272 Motor Avenue in Los Angeles and will soon launch their Italian Ape Car food truck, the first of its kind on the West Coast, for food service. Founded by a group of entrepreneurs from the North and South of Italy, Burrata House’s mission is to deliver the Italian tradition and passion for fresh, simple, high-quality ingredients to Los Angeles street food lovers. “Italian food is everywhere, but truly authentic Italian food is rare to find abroad,” says Co-Founder Antonello Dato.

Burrata House’s panini are made fresh to order using Di Stefano’s Burrata Cheese, Rosetta Bread, a choice of cured meat (Prosciutto Crudo, Prosciutto Cotto, Bresaola, or Smoked Turkey Breast), organic tomatoes, arugula and a touch of olive oil for an average price of $13.00. Gluten-free, vegetarian and vegan options, along with a selection of Protein Bowls, are also available, guided by one simple principle: the burrata is the Hollywood star.

After just one month of being open, Burrata House’s Instagram (@burratahouse) — which highlights a rotating mix of vintage ape cars, scenic Italian landscapes, burrata memes, and reaction videos featuring satisfied customers—has already amassed close to 9,000 followers. The team is excited about the enthusiasm they’ve received from LA diners and feel optimistic this is just the beginning.

In the spirit of providing the complete Italian experience, the team converted an Ape Car, the most iconic Italian vehicle, into a stylish food truck that evokes all the flavors and traditions of Italy. “Trying to explain our Italian Ape Car food truck was not an easy task when applying for permits. We even got a few laughs, but we knew we had a winning concept,” says Dato.

The team has ambitious plans for growth, including expansion to several other cities in the coming year and operating a fleet of Ape Cars to reach more customers.

Burrata House is open 10:30 am-10:00 pm Monday through Sunday and can be ordered online through all online delivery platforms operating in Los Angeles. Their Ape Car is currently available for private and corporate catering. More information, including a full menu, can be found at burratahouse.com.

Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
California regulations are the biggest obstacle, as they are scattered, fragmented not well defined and not enforced. This causes a lot of confusion and long wastage of precious time.

Please tell us about Burrata House.
We specialize in fast casual Italian food. We use extremely high-quality ingredients for to-go and fast healthy meals with an authentic Italian soul.

We are the sole Burrata-Centric company in the world and we are proud of the food we deliver… Just look at our online reviews!

If you had to go back in time and start over, would you have done anything differently?
Spend less budget on the food truck. Buy ready made natively compliant ones for California and use the cool ones in all the other states where the regulations are more reasonable and less obnoxious.
