Today we’d like to introduce you to Anthony Paras.
Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
The spark that inspired my rollercoaster ride called “animation” was from watching a VHS copy of Toy Story as a kid. I didn’t just watch the film; I was obsessed with it. I would rewind the tape over and over again being immersed by the cadence and rhythm of each scene. I loved its timing, witty characters, sound, music, and all the memories it gave me! Because of Toy Story, I learned how to be a friend. As a storyteller, it is my goal to make a positive impact in someone’s life, like how Pixar has impacted mine.
I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
My path has been anything but smooth! My animation journey has been a rollercoaster, thrusting me in all directions! I went up, down, twist, loop and turn until my ride led me to my dream school, CalArts. The sensation is a lot like my own artistic process! When I write my stories, I always start not knowing where the destination will lead me. I simply follow my joy, and eventually, I discover the answer from within.
Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
My passion is storytelling. I fasten my audience into unexpected journeys that excite their imaginations. From dynamic action scenes that plunge you onto the edge of your seat to feeling the most tender moments of love, the most rewarding experience for me is always seeing the joy and tears in my audience’s eyes. When my stories help others, my heart heals each time. I want to make new memories for generations beyond my lifetime.
