Meet Anthony Jensen

Today we’d like to introduce you to Anthony Jensen.

Anthony, let’s start with your story. We’d love to hear how you got started and how the journey has been so far.
I moved Portland, Oregon to Southern California in 1986, right out of high school. Attended the American Academy of Dramatic Arts to study acting techniques. Acted periodically through the 90’s and went into producing in 2003 (The Apprentice got me started….). Produced various projects over the ensuing 15 years. Competition shows, documentaries, and finally a scripted series called Lucha Underground. Did that show for four years while I was getting my acting chops back in shape. Since that show ended in ’18, I’ve appeared in a string of films and tv shows. General Hospital, Lifetime Movie Networks films, and numerous theatrical releases. Among them, D-Railed, The Gallows: Act II, Street Survivors: the Story of the Lynyrd Skynyrd Plane Crash, Prey, and Princess of the Row. My focus is now on more film, tv, and Broadway, once that opens back up.

We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
Los Angeles is a big city. It is expensive and can be overwhelming and unforgiving. I held strong though and made it.

We’d love to hear more about your work and what you are currently focused on. What else should we know?
I’m now solely an actor. I may go back to producing in the future, but for now I want to get as much good acting work as possible. I’m probably best known for a Lifetime Movie I starred in called “Dr. Death” (pka: The Doctor Will Kill You Now). It’s what I get recognized for. Also known for my work on Lucha Underground. That was a very impactful show. Four seasons on the El Rey network and a very loyal fanbase. That show gets me back in front of the camera as Vampiro’s doctor. Doctor Richard Johnson was my character…

So, what’s next? Any big plans?
In the immediate future, I’d like to get a regular character on a major series. Something I can evolve in overtime. Don Draper on Mad Men or Walter White in Breaking Bad. Would also love to do a national touring company of a Broadway hit like Tootsie. Long term goals are to produce my own scripted content. I have a series of books to tap in to by author Jack W. Thomas. Great pulp stuff.
