Today we’d like to introduce you to Anthony Bogdanovich.
Anthony, let’s start with your story. We’d love to hear how you got started and how the journey has been so far.
I started in fall, 2004 with a little residential Xmas light installation business. I had just left from working in the medical field and wanted to do something completely different. Instantly I fell in love with doing lighting and decor and began developing fantastic relationships with my clients. After that first holiday season, one of my clients asked if I could fix their exterior lighting for them and ended up installing a whole new system that spring. It was huge property in Lunada Bay and the results were absolutely stunning! Other neighbors quickly approached us and over the next few jobs, I really enjoyed designing and installing outdoor lighting systems.
I began taking additional classes on lighting design and researched every manufacturer I could find. 13 years later we have installed hundreds of lighting systems, some of them simple and straight forward, many of them complex and extremely detailed.
Lighting design is something I am extremely passionate about. It has been exciting from the beginning for so many reasons but is getting even more so because of all the advancements in LED technology. I can honestly say that I love what I do and I am really looking forward to what the next few years may bring!
We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
It has definitely not been a smooth road. The recession of 2008 hit our business pretty hard and new jobs came few and far between. Being we are not what one would consider a necessity based home improvement, it was easy for people to cut outdoor lighting from their budget. If it wasn’t for our fantastic clientele base, there is a good chance we wouldn’t still be around today.
It took serious adjustments and completely rethinking our business to make it through those tough years and many times I wanted to throw in the towel, but when you love what you do, you persevere. I couldn’t be any happier now as we have a full time installation staff and an awesome office manager who our customers absolutely love!

I am proud to say that our staff is not only well trained, but cordial and friendly. I received a text from a client the other day, letting me know that “my guys are so nice and helpful!” Turns out they saw her struggling while she was carrying a few things in from her car and dropped everything to run over and help her. It didn’t take long but it’s something that absolutely made her day. It’s the little things in life, just like the little details we consider when designing lighting that make all the difference in the world.
What were you like growing up?
I’d say I was your typical 90’s kid. We would be either outside, playing ball in the street or playing video games and music, enjoying the simple things. Music and arts were something I really enjoyed and playing the drums is something I still really enjoy to this day.
The intricacies of music that I heard at a young age really sparked my creative side and I think it has helped me in the work I do today.
