Meet Annie and Candi Jiang of C & C Photography in DTLA

Today we’d like to introduce you to Annie and Candi Jiang.

So, before we jump into specific questions about the business, why don’t you give us some details about you and your story.
C & C Photography began in 2017 when we (Annie and Candi) decided to join our skills and create something we were both passionate about. A passion for storytelling and love! Now 3+ years later, we are humbled and excited to still be doing what we love most and be doing it together!

Candi was very interested in art growing up: drawing, painting, pottery… and came to State to study MFA in photography at Academy of Art University. She has always dreamed of being a photographer. That love started with her first film camera given by her father when she was little but didn’t really take flight until 2016 when she got her graduate degree in photography.

I, Annie, raised and born in China. I went to Academy of Art University and USC and studied cinematography at 2012. After school, I began working as a freelance photographer. That is when I learned about photography in the real world, and it’s how I ultimately started paying bills through this industry. With a Cinematic Arts background, it really gave me a great perspective and foundation to launch my own shooting career from a unique point of view. I want my photo work looks like a movie screenshot and a movie poster.

We were school mate and with the similar background we decided to start our photography business together. Together we are travel nerds! Our clients have brought us all around the world. We have photography project in France, Denmark, Iceland and Cuba in past years.

Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
Making the leap from photography as a personal passion to a paying gig is a big one. Find a balance between being creatively fulfilled and being able to pay the bills is difficult for us at the beginning.

As we continue being creative and to do some styled shoot and editorial shoot. People were responding to the work, and it started to bring in more clients who appreciated our style.

With the right clients, it brought more happiness to both me and my clients.

Please tell us about C & C Photography.
We are wedding photographer based in Los Angeles available for destination weddings worldwide.

We have the best clients who appreciate our work. When I close my eyes and think about who our bride is, I have visions that she decides what kind of bride she is and there might not be a name for it specifically, just a natural confidence behind how she feels during an incredibly meaningful day. That is I called “modern bride”. Our work style and branding attract the right ones.

We are drawn to modern aesthetics, regal simplicity and romantic minimalism. We believe everything is in the subtleties. Striving for meaningful experiences and relationships, our work has taken us all over the world. Our work can be seen in Vogue, Style Me Pretty, Wedding Sparrow and more.

If you had to go back in time and start over, would you have done anything differently?
We appreciated all the ups and downs. If we had to start over, we might do the same thing.
