Meet Anne Stedman of Chic Mama LA in Los Angeles

Today we’d like to introduce you to Anne Stedman.

So, before we jump into specific questions about the business, why don’t you give us some details about you and your story.
I came out from Texas to Los Angeles when Richard Linklater gave me a small part in one of his films. With a SAG card in hand, I had dreams to be an actress which I was fortunate enough to do in various movies, tv shows, and commercials. When I had my boys, I wanted to be home more often, so I started a blog Chic Mama LA. It was a creative outlet for me to talk about fashion, beauty and all things mommy. I really wanted it to be a source for moms, so they could quickly find out about new products and labels they hadn’t heard of before. Overtime this helped me create my talk show with celebrity moms Chic Mama Carpool and my sketch comedy Chic Mama Drama (which was number one on Funny or Die for over a month).

Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
Starting a blog always had its challenges. I basically learned all about technology while building my website. There were many hurdles to jump in order to get it right. With perseverance and patience, I’ve come along way. Now, with social media, I deal with brands as well when I do collaborations. A lot of times, I feel as though I’m wearing a lot of hats with all the different types of jobs I am juggling. The exciting thing is since I’ve been doing this career for so long, my first love of writing has come back with my scripted sketch series. Looking back from my college years at UT in Austin, I’ve learned so much by being open to new career paths I’ve chosen.

Please tell us about Chic Mama LA.
Chic mom LA specializes in helping moms feel their best every day. Whether it’s new beauty products, clothing brands you should know that are out there or products to help you with day-to-day, we’ve got you covered. I most proud of Chic Mama Carpool and Chic Mama Drama because I can do everything I love in one. I interview incredible high profile mom‘s who have interesting things to say, I get to write and act. It’s truly a dream come true.

If you had to go back in time and start over, would you have done anything differently?
I would’ve told myself to not sweat the small stuff. At the end of the day, some of those hard lessons I learned, actually helped me grow tremendously in my business and as a person.
