Meet Anna Jane Jackson

Today we’d like to introduce you to Anna Jane Jackson.

Anna Jane, can you briefly walk us through your story – how you started and how you got to where you are today.
I was born in Greenwich, Connecticut and ended up in Los Angeles due to my dad’s airline job. Growing up in the world’s entertainment capital, I was exposed to the entertainment industry at an early age and began training and working at age 7. I was the lead singer of a teen country-Americana band for a while and modeled domestically and overseas. I love to write and produce, and recently I’ve written and performed a film soundtrack.

Has it been a smooth road?
I think just like everybody else’s journey, it’s never indefinitely a smooth road. Especially in the entertainment industry, there are waves you surf, and it can all crash down again within a moment. The key is keeping faith and integrity.

Insecurity has always been a struggle for me, and something I work on every day. Being an artist, you put your heart and soul and self out on the floor every single day and are bound to be rejected a ton.

Modeling specifically has been an interesting journey for me. I had an experience modeling overseas in Shanghai that had me shocked. I cut the trip short due to work conditions and a year later read that a young girl (placed at the same agency I was working with) named Vlada Dzyuba had reportedly died of maltreatment and exhaustion. I now consider myself an advocate for safe and fair work environments and want to help make a difference for young girls entering the industry. I’ve written a song about my experience, releasing March 6. I feel it’s my duty to speak out.

What else should our readers know?
I’m a model/actress, musician and creator. I would say I specialize in anything creative! I live, breathe and sweat art and I try to keep my work and myself as real as possible on the daily. I would hope people see me as genuine and are able to connect and be inspired by what I do and put out there. That’s all I can really ask for!

Let’s touch on your thoughts about our city – what do you like the most and least?
I like how there are so many opportunities and ways to thrive in the creative field. I also appreciate how diverse LA is and how you encounter many walks of life. I’d say my least favorite thing is…. the traffic? Haha! You also inevitably do encounter people every now and then who are in it for the wrong reasons. That’s why I think it’s important to find like-minded and genuine people who will support and keep you grounded.
